Last time (cycle 10 of 12), my onc called a day or two after chemo to
say that my liver enzyme numbers were high, and he had some concerns
about liver damage. We immediately thought about mets, because that's
where they first show in crc. He ordered a CT, and set an upper limit
for them for the next chemo. It would have been nice if he'd thought
about the delay in the liver tests, as it meant an extra trip to the
south end of town (1.5 H total), and a change to the chemo schedule.
Well, the good news was that the CT was "unremarkable", with no damage
showing, and the liver enzyme numbers, while high, weren't high enough
to cancel chemo. So now I'm on cycle 11 of 12, heartily cheering
betweeen bouts of the nasties. When I can focus.
Here's to you all, hoping you're soon at the happy end of the process,
waving to cancer in your rear-view, with an economy of digits. To
those with no hope of a happy end, then a happy interim and a peaceful
end.
