Default Lung cancer diagnosis?

My wife's doctor has scheduled her for an cat scan. Supposedly from
an X-ray a lump was detected. Wife thinks the lump is in the lung.
She is 61, non smoker, only possible symptom is occasional shortness
of breath. I know right now it's difficult to say until the results
are in. But what are the chances of a lung cancer diagnosis?

Hello Peter,
I'm sorry you're going through this.
Unfortunately, there's not much to be said until the tests have been
completed.
And you've acquired the test results on paper or on DICOM.
If it is cancer, the next question (answered from biopsy) is where is the
primary?
There's cancer of unknown primary, or other types of cancer can spread to
the lung, including breast (in which case you'll be joining
alt.support.cancer.breast)

So hang in there while the process happens.
Do let us know though if it lung, ASAP, in case one combined procedure,
we've heard of, might be a good one for your wife.
Many lung cancers are too advanced at diagnosis.

Remember many others go through these tests, daily and I always hope it's
an artifact (which is a glitch during imaging).

Good wishes coming your way.
J

Peter, I have fingers crossed for you both. The waiting & not knowing
is difficult. I'll be thinking of you.
