Default Mom

Well I just spoke to Mom for the first time in a few weeks. She wasn't very
happy w/having to go to radiation 15 days straight in a row. An ambulance
picked her up at the house and brought her home. She said she is soooo glad
that's over with. She sounds very weak, her voice is garbled, drugged
sounding. She asked me about my cats and what I was doing today. She said
she likes her two nurses that come, and she really enjoyed having her hair
styled and nails done last week. They came to the house, of course. I want
to jump on a plane right now and just go. Unfortunately, owning 6 animals
has me trapped for a while yet. I'd rather wait a little bit longer and
then go. I don't know if I will be there when she dies. I just don't know.
I started to cry and I told her how much I loved her and that she'll always
be my best friend. I just wanted to reach through that phone and gently hug
her.

This will be the toughest journey for me yet. I just can't imagine my world
without Mom.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Laurie,
It's good to hear from you.
I thought I read that you were in a car wreck in hospital.
Must have been a different Laurie?
Our thoughts have been with you and your mother and will continue to be.
Thanks for the update.
Hugs
J

Hi J~

Yes, I was in a car wreck early last week. I was unconscious for a few
days, but no bruises really. My car ain't so hot tho'. This just comes at
a very inappropriate time in my life. I'll be fine w/that tho'.

As for the rest of me, it's all about Mom from now on. My father wrote to
me tonight and I'd like to share it in here:

:One good thing about this care giving period is that her eventual passing
will not be as traumatic to me as a sudden death might
:have been. There will be no need to remove immediately everything that is
a personal reminder of her presence - clothes,
:jewelry, pictures, etc. Any sharp edges that could be presented by that
kind of stuff has been totally minimized by watching her
:slowly succumb to the unrelenting attack of THE BEAST.

:Pray for her.

And I am. I'm praying and praying, crying and then praying some more. ;o(

Tough times here, J.

Thank goodness you are alright after your accident, we were thinking all
sorts here.

Losing a loved one is so hard Laurie and I truly feel for you right now. I
wish that there was something that I could say to raise your spirits.
You're doing all that you can and by being able to share your love with your
mum over the phone, is something that you will cherish in the future.

Warm Hugs

Alayne

I'm still wondering how my car accident made it into here...

But, thanks y'all. I'm fine. Little Turk (my car's name) is not though.
And had I hit the tree a foot over, I don't know if I'd be here.

Purrs, Pam!!
