| | | Natural cancer treatments I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced firsthand,
positive results from taking natural cancer treatments.
My family has an extensive history of cancer and I have seen the
terrible side effects of chemo, radiation etc and do not believe they
are the answer.
There are so many websites claiming all sorts of cures with glowing
testimonials etc, so I'm very confused and wary, so would like to hear
from genuine people only, to trade ideas with. |

I understand your question, but it's useless. If I told my grandmother
was cured or felt better, lived longer because she ate two green apples
every morning that doesn't mean a thing for your friend.

Surgery sometimes combined with radiation therapy and/or chemo cure many
(of the common adult) cancers.
If you ask a question here, you are expected to include symptoms, tumor
locations, diagnosis, staging, grade, and any other relative information
that may help the group to understand your post.
If it's breast or prostate cancer related, ask on their respective
newsgroup about how they dealt with the side effect.
alt.support.cancer.breast alt.support.cancer.prostate
So what's the side effect your family member is currently having a problem
with?

They are not currently experiencing any side effects (not medical any
way) for obvious reasons.
I am 51 and have not as yet been diagnosed with any form of cancer.
What Iam trying to do, however, is to research natural remedies so as
to understand preventation, or should I ever be a cancer sufferer,
have some options to take. |

"Natural remedies" such as diet, selected supplements and herbs, and
healthy life style (enough exercise, avoiding overeating, smoking and
excess alcohol etc.) may help to reduce your chances to get cancer,
but if you do get cancer, you need real medical treatments, if you
want to have any kind of chance of curing your cancer. Sure, even then
well chosen "natural remedies" may improve your chances or/and quality
of life, but they are no replacement for medical treatments. Consult
your doctor before starting any natural remedies during medical cancer
therapy.

Australia? Get your whole body checked once a year for skin changes.
Avoid the sun at peak strength time.
Talk with your doctor about your family's (parents, siblings, grandparents,
uncles, aunts) cancer (or other) medical history.
And the doctor will tell you what to watch out for (as to screening).
Get your teeth checked (and maintenance) once a year
When they say "regular exercise" they don't mean on the computer or watching TV.
Follow healthy eating guidelines, reasonableness in diet and drinking.
Safe sex and don't smoke.
Love bats and avoid peak mosquito times. See that standing water is drained.
Otherwise, have fun :-)

I have a sister in law in South Africa ( not Australia ) who visited
her wonderful doctor 3 or 4 times over the last 2 years specifically
asking for a lump on her chest / breast to be checked out. She was
told by her wonderful Doctor not to worry about it until 3 months ago
when he finally took her seriously. Result? Now diagnosed with
terminal breast cancer. After chemo her current white cell count is
almost non existent. I suggest shove your toothbrush and your mosquito
net where the sun doesnt shine! |

Sweetie, might I suggest that you not push your issues and get out there and
live? Believe me, if cancer becomes a part of your life, it takes over and
becomes your life. Believe me, you don't want to think about the
possibility, yet. I'm also 51 and am riding the roller coaster with my
husband. Right now there is no other ride in town.

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law.
We/ve heard that things aren't good in S. Africa.
If you'd come asking two years ago, when she had the lump, the breast cancer newsgroup
would have helped you or we would have told you to go to a different doctor to get a
biopsy of the lump.
For prevention, which is what you asked about, my post stands as it is.
If you want information about breast cancer see alt.support.cancer.breast
