Seeing as some cancer drugs get a usable yield of less than 1% from the
reaction used to create them, then yes it is cheap per dose! How much

"Patients frequently want the newest and most expensive drugs and
medical devices, and insurers rarely deny coverage for new treatments
on the basis of price. As a result, the cost of health care coverage
has been on the rise at a rapid pace. Cancer drugs in particular have
undergone giant price increases. Worldwide, spending on cancer drugs
is expected to hit $55 billion by 2009."
Hmmmm. Let's see... If we used the money we've spent thusfar in Iraq
on cancer drugs we could treat all the world's cancer patients for
about 5 years for free!
But, I'll admit it ... most of that treatment would be a waste of time
and money. Either way we lose.

Actually, I was commenting on the profit motive of a company. If a treatment
really worked for ADHD that cost $4000, that would be money well spent.
However, the web page of a for-profit company doesn't really count as
evidence, any more than it would for a drug company.

Not to mention that it costs the drug companies hundreds of millions of
dollars to bring a drug to market.

But--you thought it was terrible for a $4000.00 alternative for ADHD.
I can only conclue that you push drugs.

The evidence was clearly there. You dismissed it.

It is sad that that is the only conclusion that you can make. This is not a
sign of mental flexibility or imagination.
I didn't think that $4000 is a lot of money for an effective treatment for
ADHD, medical or otherwise.
However, $4000 is a lot of money to waste on an unproven treatment. An
advertisement on a for-profit company's website is not a good form of
evidence that it works. Research by an independent group comparing it to no
treatment or a proven treatment, preferably published in a peer-reviewed
journal would be good evidence.

The evidence was an adveritisment on a for-profit company's website. That's
why I dismissed it.
Unless you are able to make an intelligent statement in this thread, I won't
respond to you anymore.

There indeed were improvements, and research.
Ye old *advertisemen* is worn out and an excuse from those like you.
I have posted about peer-reviewed.

"CHARGING $4,200 a dose for a new version of an old cancer drug has
helped make Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong a billionaire."
If this stuff had been sold for five years or more, it's *still* grossly
overpriced if this doctor could become a billionaire from the sales,
even if the company that made the stuff was his sole proprietorship.
One might say it's cheap in the sense that saving a life (which this does
NOT do) is worth anything, but even so, 100,000%+ profit margins are
just outright greed and opportunism.

Far better than either would be for the drug companies to be limited to
no more than 2,000% markup.
