Default New info for you all.

Hi all:
well I saw my surgeeon this week and she didn't like the scan I showed
her frommthe past few months. She believestha this tumor is not 2 tumors
but one that is wrapped arounfd my bladder. And Friday I had another MRI
and the have to knowck me out. I have a hard time inside of those noisy
machine. I 'd rather go for a spin in a clothes dryer thhan to be insode
of a mri.

Anyhow On Friday the 13th I am to be in Banner deser Samaratin hospital
for a whole series of tests. after wheich my sergeoan is most likely
going to take out the tumor. The main hope is this cancer has not found
its way into my bladder. If it does that mean a very large and co
mplicated surgery (10-16-hrs long. It would remove some more of my
intestines, my bladder, some msucles and rewife me to go pea fromm
outside. think of have a spigot valve on the outside. Just turn it on to
go and turn it off to stop going. It would also mean that I would never
again be able to make love to my wfie ever again. I'll be able to keep
her happy. But there won't be much left of ME to have FUN with. The
Chemo seems to be working. I'm able to go Prea without much of an issue.
plus I don't have to wait 2-3 minutes before I get going. Plus no more
going dribble dribble indtead of a good stream like it's suposed to.

Anyhow. My stay is to be a min of 4 days and under a worse case senario
3-4 weeks. We still have time. I will have 2 more chemo treatments
before I go in. The Goofg thing is I know every Dr and Nurse on the
Oncology Floor st this hospital. If I stay for 4 days that will put me
at 200 days in the Hosp since 9/30/05 and if I stay a few weeks I'll be
in the Low 200's for stay. Mind you my stays in the hospital have nevr
been a basic room. It's been Oncology (24hr watch) Intermidiate care,
Long term care, ICU care. The State of Arizona is my medical Ins. And I
have cost the state some thing near $800,000.00 so far. My MRI with
sedations Cost $8500.00 I have had 3 of thios. My average Medicines cost
$2800.00 a month x 22 months=61,600.00 Med trans for me or me and the
wife to dr's office and the hospital. The trip up north to the pain
clinic cost Ins $2K each way The clinic was $15K with meds and testing.
My Chemo I'm on is $15K each does. My old Chemo's were something around
$20K each. x 15 =$300,000.00 and I don't know what my 4 surgeries have
cost. But you look at all this and the tiem in the Hospitl beds, The
Bone scans ($25K each) have had 2 of them PET scan at $10K a pop x 5=50K

I am a reall expensive patient with the state of AZ.

So I have to wait till July 13th to see what's going to happen to the
rest of my life.

Talm to you all soon.

Good luck with your surgery. A nurse friend has a had her bladder out as a
child, ( cancer) she has an internal pouch which she empties at regular
intervals.
It hasn't effected her life, she is married , has children (adopted) and
works.

Here in my home state of MA, the Medicaid pays one rate - the hospital gets
reimbursed the same for a simple appendectomy as a bone marrow
transplantation. The hospital makes up the costs so they can right off there
losses when they do the books at the end of the year. As a patient your job
is to get well and not worry about the bill.

It's not just in MA.
The hospital makes up the cost by overcharging those who do not have
insurance or have insurance policies that don't have direct contracts
with the hospital. While the poor get care for nothing, the people who
work hard for a living can lose everything under this system.

It is not just healthcare, education also, if you are middle class - two
working adults you are expected to pay 100% of your kids over inflated
college tuition, while other families who don't report income or only have
one member of their family working get grants.

I feel you pain dealing with medical billers, even with insurance that
covers 100% of the cost they still try to stick you with a bill. It is
almost a full time job sorting it all out.
