| | | OT: Very Sick If you guys don't hear from me, it's because the glands in my neck are now
twice the size they were yesterday. Plus I have a fever and sore throat,
and I hurt all over. I have to keep putting blankets on me. I just never
wanted to let anyone down. I wanted to be there for them as they needed me.
In my ministry, that's what I decided I would do. Be a caretaker and be a
good one. But now I'm going to have to let Robert down. My husband will
have to see to him. I can't even leave the house now. I have a doctor's
appointment on the 10th ( I take antidepressants.) I'm so sick now that it
takes all the strength I have just to sit in a chair. Remember please that
I love you all and I will be back giving you reports as soon as
possible.....Much Love from Me, Chris |

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Can you possibly get in to see
your doctor sooner? You need to care for yourself in order to care
for others. Please don't leave yourself out of the equation. I hope
you get well soon!

I've never had mumps but I did think about that. I went to the doctor
today. I was so sick they had to get me a wheelchair. He said I have a
strep infection and strep throat. He told me to slow it down. That is very
hard for me to do. Robert is on chemo now and in case his hair starts
coming out, I wanted to be the one to cut it and shave it off for him. He
has long hair, and it's braided. I went to beauty school and learned how to
cut hair. There is no way I can be around him now knowing I have these
infections. I don't think I will be able to take my dad to chemo either. I
can't take any chances. My dad sleeps a lot because of the chemo. Still no
nausea though. Robert has been feeling tired, but he too has no nausea.
I'm very grateful for this. Thank you Bob for caring about me. Thanks for
writing to me......Love, Chris |

Hi Chris,
If there's no one to help with Robert's hair, someone could buy some netting to
keep it from falling out on his pillow, in his face, eyes or mouth, in the
interim.
I've had strep before, but not as bad as you have it. You should start feeling
better after a few days of antibiotics, but it's important that you take the
full course of it.
There's a writeup about it here http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/str...260/DSECTION=3
Hygiene is very important including the computer keyboard and mouse and if one
of the kids starts feeling ill, it's probably best to keep him or her home from
school (or anywhere there's close contact with others).
It's explained there, by clicking on each section, including sefl-care and foods
(at the end of the article).
You might be well enough for your father (around the 20th), if you're not in too
close contact with him OR the kids aren't also sick. Is there taxi service from
his home to the treatment place? (just in case you've not available).
I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much for all the helpful information. I hadn't even thought of
the keyboard of the mouse. I'm in a spare bedroom with the door closed
hoping my kids won't catch this. I won't let them in here. I keep the baby
monitor on, even though they are not babies now, so I can hear them and what
they are doing. If it's possible, I feel even sicker now that I did before.
Now I feel nauseated. My stomach feels very uneasy. I will be surprised if
I don't throw up tonight. I try not to swallow because of the intense pain.
I also have a headache like I've never had before. It's excruciating.
My sister will take my dad to his treatment. I can't take any chances with
him or with Robert. I still text message Robert if I can. He rarely writes
back though. So I'm hurting all over and in every joint. I try to sweat
the fever out, but it's not working. Advil will get it down some, but it
always comes back. My mom isn't sympathetic at all. She calls and demands
that I just get up and get over it. She never believes me when I'm sick.
She thinks it's something of the mind, not the body. She hurt me bad
tonight. I probably won't sleep anyway, and knowing my mom doesn't support
me will really bother me. I'm feeling very sick now, so I will close. I
love you all.....Chris |

Maybe Steph or someone can tell you how long on the antibiotics until
you no longer can pass it on. That would be one worry off your mind.
