Default primary sarcoma of the brain info wanted

anyone know where I can find more information about this. all I am finding
so far is
"SARCOMA
Primary sarcomas in the brain are rare. They arise from the dura, the pia
arachnoid and from the blood vessels of the subarachnoid space. Treatment is
surgical removal. Radiation and chemotherapy are of limited benefit. These
tumours are fast growing and treatment is difficult. "

Dad is almost done of his first round of radiation and just found out that
another round will be taking place in January. he was disappointed of
course, thinking that it would be all done after next week and the doctors
want to meet with him next week to go over everything but let him know ahead
of time so he could get used to the idea of more treatments.

He had his first support group meeting, which he said went well . a huge new
thing for him to do, but he is positive and determined to beat this.

If you have an idea where I might look it would be great so I can see how
"limited benefits" and how difficult "treatment is difficult" is.

Thanks

Lynn

Hello Lynn,
I did quite a bit of searching myself and that's about it for primary sarcoma.
I would think if it can't all be removed, that they're easing the radiation
therapy, so as to do as little damage as possible to the good parrts of his
brain.
Of course you'll find out more at or after the meeting.

I was thinking that if you or your father wants to talk technology with them,
(what they're using or do or don't have to use) this might be a good starting
point.

If that doesn't work well, go to http://www.radiologyinfo.org/index.cfm then
select Radiation Therapy.

I'll be thinking of you and your father and hope you have a good weekend
J

Thanks J,
yeah there isn't a whole lot of info on this. I was hoping to find upbeat
articles on people who have lived awhile with this so I could pass it on to
him.
I probably won't find out what really goes on at the doctors appointment,
except in little dribbles here and there, he's very close mouth about bad
news etc so he doesn't worry us.He did say another round of radiation will
start the end of Jan.

You have a good Christmas J ( or whatever you celebrate) thanks for taking
the time to reply.

Brain cancer is a tough one. There is a LOT of misinformation out there,
especially on GBM's (which isn't the same as a primary sarcoma? not
sure, someone correct me if I am wrong.)

I think the key to *any* cancer is getting educated, reading everything
that is out there, and I eventually got comfortable separating the bunk
from the factual stuff.

Thanks Lynn and same to you and yours.
You'll probably have to live with getting info from him on an "as needed"
basis.
As difficult as that may be for you not always being in the know.
Hugs
J
