| | | Question about hair growth post-chemo I have a question - my dad is undergoing treatment for large cell
lymphoma and started losing his hair last week, and decided to shave
it all off last weekend.
Now my question is this: Will the color of my dad's hair change back
to grayish (the way it was before he started chemo) or will it go
white for a bit then back to grayish?
Just wondering...

Hi.
When my son was going through chemo he too shaved his head, but when it
did grow back in it came back the same color, but I think I've heard it
can come in any color.
Best wishes.

Mine came back silvery-grey. But to be honest, I colored it for so
long that I'm not really sure what color it was before it fell out. I
work with 2 ladies who each got their original hair color back.

Socks' came back same color (gray), same fine texture, still curly. And
Socks lost it all X2. I've heard of radical transformations to red, curly
from straight, but that doesn't seem to be happening here.

Mom's came back the same color, but extra curly. She loved it! The curls
finally went away and she went back to perms. She was just so happy to have
hair again... heck, if it came back purple, she would've been happy.
How I miss so. ;o(

As far as curly/straight goes, the 2 ladies I work with, theirs each
came back stick straight (which is what they had before). Mine came
back curly, curly and more curly - I had had thick, wavey hair before
(thanks, Dad), but it came back in tight, tight curls. It's pretty
long now (I'm trying to grow it out for Locks for Love) and it's
relaxed somewhat - more like when I was in high school...

Hair loss can occur on various parts of the body - it varies.
Some never grows back - it varies.

All my gray hair was gone and my straight hair became curly. Now I am
back to straight hair and some gray hairs, it took several years to
get back to normal. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
