Default Rare form of lung cancer

My wife Rose has been diagnosed as having Salivary Gland Type Lung
Cancer, a very rare one - only 1 in a 1000 lung cancers are of this
type.
She has had a lung removed.
In surgery it was found the cancer had spread to her lymph glands
which were also removed.
The concern now is that if the cancer had got this far may it have
spread elsewhere in her body? We have been told there is a 50/50
chance the cancer may have spread.
Chemotherapy has been discussed with the consultant yeaterday, but
there is no evidence that chemo is effective with this type of cancer.
If it has spread the prognosis is not good as surgery would not be an
option.
I am finding out what I can now about any alternative treatments which
may help in preventing this cancer coming back.

Has anyone here had this type of cancer, or know of anyone who has
whom I could get in contact with?

Many thanks,

Pat Mahoney

Hello Pat,
It must be very hard for you not finding others with the same type of
cancer as your wife's.
There's many types mentioned here

>

I found an old post, in the archives from 1998, where a poster says that
his " mucoepidermoid tumor " (which is mentioned on the above webpage) was
low grade and treated with surgery alone. So take heart and hope that
what they've done, for your wife, will slow down if not stop your wife's
cancer. If so, your wife's prognosis would be very much better than the
common lung cancers.

I doubt very much that any alternative will help you're wife. Most of the
claims out there have long been debunked in trials or finding that the
people didn't have cancer to begin with or other explanations; so the end
result is you'd be pouring money and/or hope into futile treatments.

Trust the doctors, ask them questions; use any money or time you have
with your wife. There's so much out there to enjoy and when it comes down
to it, we only have today; no guarantees for any of us. So enjoy, if she
feels well enough.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're both doing, please.
J

You did not answer him.

I don't think it changes anything I've wrottten, but go ahead and satisfy him.

He's the expert here.

How's it going with your wife, Pat?
Is she having post-op radiotherapy?
