Hello J, Figgertoes, Mike Radcliff,Doc and rest of group.

I think its time for an update.

First in 2004 diagnosed with (NHL) B-cell
treated with CHOP+R
three years later after being in remission my ONC telling me if this
next one is good also then you wont have to do any
more scans I arrive at hi office and he tells me there is small
growth I think we should have it biopsies.

On Sept 4th my birthday I get a call from him telling me a now have
Sarcoma Carcinoma
This one is a little harder to beat
I have had 5 hospital stays so far.
I so scared this form of cancer is fast spreading
Was told on my last hospital stay that my cancer is now terminal ,
then at the end of the hospital stay I was told they wanted to do
another pet scan and low and behold my onc told me we will play it by
ear but as for now it is not terminal Frank (aka) "STEW"
OOPS almost forgot CCKMA Cancer Can Kiss My Ass

Geez, terminal, then not terminal - You must have gone through a few
mental maelstroms, to say the least. Thank Ghu your onc gave you the
better of the two prognoses.

As you say in your sign off - Cancer Can Kiss Your Ass - On it's way
out!

Hello Frank,
I'm glad you found your way back to us.

Sacomatoid Carcinoma has subtypes if you're ever looking it up or check your
biopsy report - I think it is treated the same way as epithelial type. If I
recall correctly no lymph nodes were involved. That is a good thing.
No wonder you were missing for so long - 4 hospitalizations. Did you have
more surgeries? or treatment complications? I sure hope you'll get a break
for a while. You deserve a break from hospitals and doctors.
Here's hoping PET results are false positive or residual treatment scarring.
Sending positive thoughts for a good outcome for you.

How's the wife doing? She must be happy to have you home again.

Please keep in touch as you are able.
Missed ya.
J

Hi, Frank,

What an awful rollercoaster ride. I am so sorry you had to go through
all that goes with a terminal diagnosis but am happy to hear there is
now hope.

I am glad to see you back here still with CCKMA attitude.

Hugs,
Fig

You all might not remember but my dad had primary sarcoma in the brain.
He lost his battle with this cancer last week age 59. It started back in
Sept 2006 and after an operations, radiation, another operation, and chemo
pills. They didn't expect him to make it this long but the chemo pills were
a godsend and he got to live longer and look forward to Christmas he looked
great, felt good and was enjoying life.. the chemo shrunk the tumor in size
but it didn't last long and the core of the tumor dug in deeper while the
pills messed up with this immune making it impossible to stay on the course
and when he came off them the fury of the tumor took over

I didn't come here much to share his story mostly because we had a huge
support network at home and other places.
J, if someone comes along with the same cancer ( Primary Sarcoma of the
Brain) please pass on my e-mail address to them so I can pass on whatever
info I have ( doctors who dealt with dad case etc) since this is such a rare
cancer and maybe someone else can benefit.
Thanks
Lynn

Well, my computer crashed and I'm using an old lap top that my daughter's
boyfriend gave me.

Rob is still in remission. He had his last chemo in March as he was taken
off of hospice at that time and the doctor didn't want to deal with Tricare
and Medicare directly. Just as well, as Rob is doing ok. There are days
when he won't get out of bed, and others where he gets out of bed and then
sits in the dining room reading his David Webber books on his laptop for the
entire day. Those days I worry about him.

The gas prices here are disgusting (over $4.00/gal) so we don't go anywhere
we don't have to. However, a bunch of my cat group friends are meeting in
Orlando next month and, if I can squeak out the funds, we may go visit them.
It all depends on if I can keep Rob out of my purse long enough.

Earlier this month, Rob went into my purse, took my ATM card and ran up a
lot of money on it. We haven't figured out where he spent it all, but the
purchases we know about haven't shown up on our door step yet. I have to
hide my card better. Rob's mom is totally appalled that Rob did this and
that I'm not sending back the items that we can use. Rob just wanted to
help out and no longer has his own card, so he took mine. He was only
trying to help. I've got to hide my card better.

Hello Pam,
Good to have you back. Goodness ! It's been over 5 years since you first posted
about Rob's brain tumor.
He's done well. A reminder for the readers, Rob was first diagnosed witfh
Anaplastic Ogliodendroglioma brain tumor which transformed into a more
aggressive one.

I'm glad you were able to find a replacement for the computer.
It'll be interesting to see what else shows up that he's ordered.

I sure hope you can get to the "get-together" next month. Sounds like a lot of
fun.
Blessings to you all and please take care of you as well, Pam.
Please keep in touch.
J

Hello Lynn,
I'm truly sad for you all. Your Dad sounded like a great Dad.
You'll no doubt feel the loss for some time.
Thank you for coming to tell us.
Yes, I'll pass on your email address, if here.
For ease of finding, if others search the archives
lynn.scott at ns.spammenotsympatico dot ca
(delete spammenot and fix the obvious)

May the support continue.
Please check in from time to time, if you feel like it.
Take good care of you.
You'll be in my thoughts.
J

Thanks. Rob scares me sometimes. What he does makes perfect sense. . .to
him. However I have to walk a fine line between the various options
available. I hate it when I have to play mommy for him.

Oh, I understand, Pam, but many males need the "mommy" factor to some degree.
They're dreamers (of greater things) which can sometimes lead to wonderful
revelations or inventions or things like walking, and eventually maybe living,
on the moon. Rob fits that profile. He reads science fiction.

If I was there, I'd ask him about the book he's currently reading, dreams that
come from it about a better world, or better "mouse-trap", whatever he gets
excited about and thinks of better ways. Most people just want someone who's
willing to listen. You might want to try it, if you have time and when taking a
break. If it starts getting too teckkie, ask for a raincheck (ie to be contnued
tomorrow).

So part 2 is yes I understand. The caretaker part is wearing thin on you.
I want....to feel protected and safe again and revered by him, for the (sex)
goddess in me.
Sorry for putting words in your mouth.
Write it your way.
Hugs
J

What ?!? How dare you make stereotypes! They're... they're... they're...
dammit, they're correct

Hell yeah a lot of males need the mommy factor to a degree, just like the
females need the big strong caveman at the mouth of the cave with big
stick to scare away the boogey men at night (to a degree, of course
)

A bat gets in the house and my wife is a screaming, snivelling wreck
locked in a sunroom until the bat is gone. Me, I'm there with the kids
next to me, showing them how to catch the silly thing without hurting it
in order to let it back outside to eat it's own body weight in bugs

Get me with the flu, though, and I'm sure as heck not complaining if
someone wants to play Florence Nightingale

You mailed it.

How did you catch the bat please?

I've fought off squirrels and birds getting in, but no bats so far.
I think I need instructions.

Did you know that squirrels kamikaza right through a screen to get to peanuts
on a kitchen table?
i didn't until it happened. Then it proceeded to climb walls in every toom
either trying to escape the 2 very interested cats and/or trying to find an
exit. I called for help and we "herded" it back to the window whence it came
and I henceforth hid the peanuts. Aggressive things they are, especially when
addicted to peanuts !
(I don't feed them anymore. Who needs a nutty squirrel busting in for nuts.)

We basically looked like laughing fools bouncing around the house with a
bedsheet stretched between my hands, waiting for the silly little critter
to land. You've got to try to get the capture sheet above *and* ahead of
the bat as they take off. You also want to make sure you're not holding
the sheet too tautly or using too much force - the wing membranes and
bones are delicate.

Once we caught it, I managed to get it's head and one wing poking out so
I could show the kids (yes, I know, risk of rabies, but it was too cool
an apportunity to pass up) When they saw the poor little thing up close,
they saw it was cute as all get out and scared to death - What was mom's
big deal ?

Of course, out the front door and onto happy feeding after a couple of
minutes. We've got a ton of em in the attic: You can literally sit in the
middle of the floor in the evening and they'll fly in circles around your
head - cool stuff! (We only use the attic for storage, so I'm not really
inclined to make the bats move out - They eat a *ton* of bugs - of which
we have an over-abundant supply - so the least I can do is supply the
housing

The same scenario has been repeated for a blue jay, two robins and a
chipmonk.

Once, a vole got into the house, but my battle-cat, Jiffy, scared the
hole living bejeebers out of this thing, I'm pretty sure it's still
running now. Should be hitting the shores of Australia any second

Yeah - I like our squirrels and chipmunks just fine - as long as they
stay out of the soffet, insulation and wiring

Gad, you're funny marc.
I do appreciate bats.
We did do similar with the squirrel. Closed some doors and I held sheets up
to scare him from going down the stairwell. Cats are faster than humans so we
didn't want to be scrambling up and down the stairwell, with the cats getting
there first. So helper person scared him out of the liv.room, "right turn"
him away from me and the sheet, into the kitchen. He either saw or smelled
the peanuts, jumped on the table, grabbed some and shot out the same hole in
the screen he'd made. Replaced the screen, moved the peanuts to the
downstairs inside porch, where we had shoes stored. When we moved, I found
peanuts and shells in each toe of each shoe and boot. Criminal and escape
route unknown.

Pardon me for asking, but what do you do with the guana in the attic? <g>

It would be beyond kamikaze moves for a squirrel to come in here. We are
owned by eight indoor cats and a German shepherd/Bast knows what mix and are
feeding a couple of outdoor cats. Even Screwy Squirrel, who once tried to
attack the wheels of our Ford Tempo, wouldn't be stupid enough to take on
the indoor owners. Screwy Squirrel loves Brazil nuts as well as any other
he can get his paws on. He likes to sit in the kitchen window and stare at
the cats who gather around to stare back.

Pam S. who would also scream for help if bats were in the house

Usually about once a year I convince myself that I'm going to clean up
there (hah!), but do manage to remember the guano isn't the healthiest
stuff in the world, so I put on a respirator, scoop it all up into a
bucket and just dump in on the compost heap. (If it rots, I compost it
)

In all seriousness, if you ever get a chance to look at a bat up close - do
it - They really are the neatest little animals. To think those scrawny
wings and fragile little finger bones not only hold them up in the air, but
allow them to perform the aerobatics that they do in order to accomplish
their insect dance is really something else

How's Marc?
You think guano should be added to Godwin's law?

You know what ? I know it's awfully early, but I think my taste buds are
coming BACK!!!! I went to McD's last night with some friends and ordered
food only 'cuz I needed the fuel and son of a gun if I couldn't taste the
french fries I am really *happy* about that, to make the
understatement of the year

My daughter (11) and I have decided to take lessons in either the fiddle or
the violin - We're going to go to a place that does the lessons and ask the
teacher to play a little of both, then decide

> You think guano should be added to Godwin's law?

Nah, unlike the cause for Godwin's law, guano does some good in the world

Double hurrah! For the tastebuds and the lessons.
I love fiddle and violin music.
Miss Rizzie plays one of them IIRC - she posts here.

Hi Marc,

As much as I'd like to celebrate with you, the ability to taste McDeath's
french-fries is a sign the tasteless buds are coming back on-line

Still I rejoice with thee, since tasteless buds returning (like butterflies
to Capistrano ?) may be a first step towards taste (not that I would know,
yet). Congratulations on your upcoming fiddle or violin duos with your
daughter !

It looks like it - It seems that sometimes, they come and go - Today, for
example, most things were pretty bland. Last weekend, though, a fellow FF
brought me a lasagna and pie his wife had made; I saved these until this
week, because if there's one food I love most, it's lasagna. I heated it
up with some trepidation on Sunday, fearing it would be so much cardboard
much and I was pleasantly shocked that not only could I taste it, but I
was in tastebud *heaven*. I'm pretty sure I packed back a kilogram of the
whole thing in one sitting

> Congratulations on your upcoming fiddle or

I think it'll be cool - The fiddle is pretty popular where I live. My
ultimate goal is bells, but I'll have to build/make those and it's not
going to be cheap (still cheaper than the thousands and thousands to buy
them) - The fiddle will be a nice mid-step, as well as a re-introduction
to reading and understanding sheet music (It's been well over twenty
years since I could last do it)

I know, I know, it's a bad habit. I usually go through phases and leave
most of them alone. Some of them, though, seem to not only have a "shoot
me" sign tatood on their foreheads, but practically hand you a loaded
gun, place it against their own buttocks and pull the trigger
