Default Steph -Melanoma near eye

My Mom was diagnosed with another melanoma.
Under the left eye about 2 cm. below. She is 77
yo. Has ITP

The derm said he would schedule surgery for her at
the Queensway. I feel that she should go to
Princess M where her onc is-at least for consult.

Four primaries and three for me (genetics??)

Your thoughts please.

Thanks,
Gail

Combination of genetics an too much sun!
The treatment of invasive melanoma is good wide local excision. I doubt the
onc has much to contribute until that's done and the path is available

Yes, we fit the classics--red hair, hazel eyes,
freckles etc.--brown haired with blue eyes and
freckles.

We were not beach types but both of us suffered
severe blistering sunburns in childhood.

What is "good wide local excision" for under the eye?
There is no flesh as on the arm or leg!

Where can they cut margins?

Her derm did a shave biopsy so the depth is unknown.

I'm just worried that the surgery may be a bust
with her ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura,
for those who are wondering--it is a problem with
blood platelets and clotting)

Thanks,
Gail

1 cm all around and 1cm deep. There is plenty of flesh..............
Sometimes a plastic repair is needed if the tumour is very close to an
eyelid.

Well, those problems have to be overcome. Melanomas must be removed to be
cured

Thanks!
I am awaiting replies from her Hematologist and
onc at PM hospital. In the end it will be her
decision. I do want to give her the facts. She
does seem quite overwhelmed and confused even
before the recent diagnosis. This leads me to
believe something is more serious. Mets...I
dunno...or "old timers" as my neighbour says!
