Default What is adenocarcinoma?

In the diagnosis of my father they talk about:
metastatic secondary cancer in the liver and an
"adenocarcinoma"

After all asking around to doctors, i still cannot get it 100% unless
it is like this:
adenocarcinoma = any cancer that started in some organ, without
specifying here where it started (because we dont know? or because we
will specify later in detail like: tree, and specified later as
oaktree?)

is probably the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer.
Cancer that begins in cells that line certain internal organs and that
have glandular (secretory) properties.
Then it's usually further defined by the organ where it starts.
In your tather's situation, they cannot find the primary.
So it's called cancer of unknown primary.

rreally all organs? Now I regret being such a dreamer in Biology

I think they are all organs except blood (the vascular system), lymph nodes
and bones.
So there's too many organs to list.
Even skin is considered an organ, but cancers on the skin are usually other
types of cancer, not adeno.

I have a suggestion. Do what I had done have a chunk of your liver cut out.
Then follow up with some type of chemo a few months later. You can have up
to 80% of your liver removed. Or you can have someone in your family donate
a piece of their liver. They cut out the bad splice a peice of a good liver
into yours. Hopefully the liver will regenerate with a stronger liver.

Just an idea.

And Frank, what if the primary's in his pancreas?
Cut that out as well, just to see? And if it's not, cut something else out?

Hi Francis,

Is it known where your primary cancer is?

Here the doctor-surgeon says:
all well cutting out a pice, but as long as the primary cancer is
there, it is going to destroy again the liver... (I wonder how long
that would take though..., any idea anybody?)

fathers liver pic is on his blog, seems "only 30 %" is affected,
yet the liver doctor says: what you don't see is that probably 90 % of
his liver is cancerous. Probably is the word of course I don't know how
to interprete...

Thanks Francis and hugs,

SK
