And of course as a widder woman you have *plenty* of time to spin
fantasies about the mainland Chinese intelligence services "targeting"
you for "elimination" because of your anti - Beijing Olympics stance,
which you natter on k00kily about on your ridiculous blog:

http://gamesvision.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Anyways, I thought it was hilarious when your worthless green card
husband died, it was "just desserts" for your netKKKopping behaviours
over the years. Sometime G-d *is* just and bad things *do* happen to
bad people...

Quaker unprocessed bran is a great thing. Two teaspoons a day should do it.
It's the consistency of wheatgerm - so it's easily mixed in with other
things, like a yogurt or a beverage.

The oats can be made drinkable.

carboplatin & taxol started december 14, 3rd dose is due this friday, scans
due mid-february

At the moment I think it's keeping me stable, which is not good, my
"stable" at the moment is persistent cough and persistent pain. If the
scans show it's not working they might try the MDX-010 or they might tell
me to go away. Won't know any more until the scans come back.

Good to hear from you, jacques.
Can't they help you with the pain?
Pulled from the BC newsgroup -= joint and muscle pain - Vicodin or percodan
Neuropathy - something called Lyrica
Good luck. Hope you feel better and scans look good.
Keep in touch, as able, please.

Hi Friends,

Was there a message about Isi passing ? I worry I may have missed it as I
deleted all the spam-o-rama that now infests our group. I'll go hunt on
Google and see.

Uncle Sally here. Been very busy with a computer programming project, and
trying to work on my second novel.

Health okay, but one of the four remaining teeth in my lower jaw (of which
only two had not already broken off) broke off and the consensus was it was
better to have them all out since the lack of saliva and post-radiation
changes left them distintegrating rapidly. So had oral surgery last Friday
with a very nice Thai Lady Oral Surgeon who had trained in Germany. Nitrous
made in painless, but she had to go in and do some work on "protrusions" in
the jaw bone that she felt might make the wound healing more difficult.

The consulting oral surgeon, professor at the Dental School in Chiang Mai,
was scheduled to take the teeth out, but he decided that I should first go
to Bangkok and spend a month getting daily 90 minute hyperbaric oxygen
treatments since he feared there could be problems with the wound healing
and potential bone necrosis. This knocked me for a loop, and it was several
days before I could see my Radiation Oncologist who wrote a letter to the
oral surgeon indicating that radiation to the front of the mouth (my SQCC
tumor was at the base of the tongue) was minimal, and that he okay'd the
extraction without hyperbaric therapy. Big sense of relief there for me,
since my whole life would have been interrupted for five weeks.

So now I can "look forward" (ha, ha, ha), in a few weeks, to a full lower
plate.

Well, I can honestly say the surgery was "peanuts" compared to the session I
had pre-radiation therapy 11 months ago when almost all my natural teeth
were removed in one session, and I had surgery on the gum flap where a
deeply impacted wisdom tooth was pulled out.

So, I've suspended my "heroic" work-outs at the gym, and am waiting
patiently for the body to heal and, as usual, continuing my soy-milk +
Nestle Nutren Optimum diet. Still no real appetite or sense of taste, but I
love my soy milk !

It's a good time of life for me, I feel healthy, am very productive. And I'm
very thankful for many things. Oddly, it doesn't disturb me that I have no
real "natural appetite," but it's sometimes socially awkward because other
people get concerned when you are not eating along with everyone else.

I wish you and your families the very best, and thanks, J., for inquiring
about me.

best, Uncle Sally

Welcome back. Your absense has been noted and will be dealt with on
another day!!
Missed your notes. I, too will miss Isi. I am glad she got into her new
house and was settled in a bit befoire she passed.
Here's the note someone in her family left for us.

Dear Everyone on this support line: I am sorry to have to tell you that
Isi passed away on November 2. She was in her new home overlooking the
view she so wanted - and had attained her dream. if only for a little
while. At her request - I brought the cats she so loved to the USA -
and
they are doing well. She is buried in the village in Bulgaria - also at
her request. I wish I could have told you all sooner but it took a very
long time for me to figure out what the enigmatic messages were and
where
and how to find you. You all were so dear to her - I can tell from the
posts I found and you helped her in ways we never could. God Bless you.

Hi J,

Becky here. We are on the downswing again, but I think there is
probably no going back. Hubby is sliding steadily. Hubby with Stage 4
NSCLC w/mets to brain 20+ lesions.

Thanks Maryanne and J. I need all the hugs I can get. Family and
friends have been very helpful. He is not remebering many of them, and
even me the other day, but when he is confused I try to talk
soothingly with him and try to help him remember, if he doesn't then
we move on. He is very easy to change subjects on these days so if I
feel like he is getting too upset, I ask him if he needs to go to the
bathroom, wants water, anything of that nature. Usually this works and
I tell him we'll talk more when he is out.....he usually forgets what
we were talking about when he comes out. He got so upset one night
that I told him I just didn't know where something was but I told him
maybe our sone would and I would call him. He agreed. When our son
called me back I asked him where the panel for the fuel lines might
be, he said he would be here in a bit. By the time he got here I had
Craig talking about ordering pizza so Chris would have something to
eat.....
Hospice has been wonderful and they know when I call it is a real
emergency, so they call right back. That means alot to me.

Take care all,

(((Hugs back)))

Hello Becky,

Thanks for the hugs.

Smart diversionary tactics, you're using there.
Could be very useful for others reading.

I'm pleased to read that hospice is being so helpful.
I wish I could be there to give you a real hug and meet Craig.
Sounds like a fine man and wish things could have been different for him
and you.

We'll be here listening and caring.
Hugs

A friend of mine has been involved in hospice-related charity for
several years. The hospices really do good work. Some hospitals will
make referrals, as they did when I needed to admit Ken and didn't know a
location.

J---how are you doing?

Thanks luv, It's important people don't wait until the last week or weeks.
They can be so helpful earlier....
But if paperwork, needs assessment, getting to know the patient, the
caregivers and family members is left too late, there's bound to be
(situations of) feelings of dissatisfaction and (possibly) unnecessary
suffering I've seen some (complaints) on some forums (and leaving it too
late was the cause)..

Better, thanks.
I'll learn not to underestimate my arthritis med. I forgot to renew it.
It's been slow-going the past 5 days, but a light went on this morning and I
checked the medicine cabinet and found some leftovers (different brand). Now
I'm better

There must be a book somewhere on how to let go of (internet) **

I would suggest you find it and use it. Your behavior serves no purpose but

Madame, mayhaps your old claws will seize up because of your extreme
arthritis - or even alcoholism...

In any case kindly lay off of the gin...we thank you...!!!

How are you doing, Jacques? I miss hearing from you.
Neuropathy still a problem?
I was reading about Tramadol today
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol (wondering if it could help your
neuropathy)

How were the scans - changed treatment?
Please updaae when possible.

Hello jacques,
Thanks for checking in. Difficult situation.
At some point, chemotherapy does more harm than good.

Neuropathy from chemo, is cumulative.
It's difficult to treat and (the treatments) can have unacceptable side effects.

They're keeping your quality of life in mind.

Drop us a line, from time - time; as able.
I'll be here caring and listening.

Hello Jacques and J and anyone else. My name is Betsy. Two and a half
months ago I was finishing up my last chemo treatment when I went into
Seizures coming home from my Onc appt. I do not remember any of the next
6 weeks. I spent this time in a nursing home after being discharged from
my local hospital. I had to relearn to walk to get rid of the swelling
in my legs from inactivity.
The seizures were brought on by losing 70 lbs, chemo or just plain run
down.
The suckers have a lot of nerve calling it a nursing home. That it
isn't. It's a cash generator for Docs and the owners. I was released by
popular demand 2 weeks ago. They couldn't kill me so I had to go.

It's great to hear from you again, Betsy.
I was so worried about your absence.

Are you on seizure medicine or busy catching up on foods and nutrition?
Please let us know how things go, as you are able.
Hugs

Very busy trying to recall how to use the computer, et al. Yes to both.
Dilantin and eating everything in sight. Pulled muscle in my right leg
is giving me more trouble than dancing down the steps with a walker.

Hello Betsy,
It's good to hear that your appetite is good.
Have you tried a tensor bandage for the muscle?
The goal is to stabilize the muscle so it causes less pain but not so tight
that it could cause a clot.
It also keeps the muscle warmed up, but not for use all day and night. It'll
atrophy.
Play it by ear and do not cover the knee or keeecap.

I could tell you some light exercises to do while sitting to help strengthen
the muscle (no wrap at that time).
BUT, first check with your onc if calcium levels are in (or out of range)
and whether there's signs of bone mets.
Too dangerous to do exercises if a fracture could occur.

Try the tensor bandage and see how it goes?
J

I forgot the third possible cause of the seizures was my low blood
pressure. both numbers are below 100 and quite frankly I think it scared
them silly.

Darned scarey losing track of 6 weeks.

I'm sorry, I don't know for sure what could have caused it.
I imagine loss of weight like that could have caused both.
My blood pressure goes low ehen I skip a meal.
Hypoglycemia is mentioned http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seizure
Is it possible you were in a diabetic coma?
I'm just happy to know that you're improving now, Betsy.
Hugs
J
