i originally thought that Persent was a bot, "he" is not, as i am familiar
with coding chat bots using AIML engines.

my current theory is that Persent is several people posting off the same
account. i think Luna, Jane, and a third person is behind this.

um, i post a shitload, but even at my peak of drinking and mania, i never
posted that much. there is no way that Persent is a single human. i think
this is all a game like the Millie stuff.

It would be fun (and pretty easy) to write one to cascade with him,
though. Run it late at night, he'd never catch on, it would keep him
busy and out of trouble.

No way. But I'm curious, are you saying the Percentistas are
*supplementing* his portfolio, or that there just is no "Dave" at all,
just a virtual entity?

you'd pretty much have to be more than one person, or... keep your posts to
one line each and be parked on the newsgroups about 20 hours out of 24, 7
days a week, 365 days a year. i don't think you've ever done that, have you?

not a huge lifetime achievement, some might say. but an achievement

i spend up to 80 hours a week with coworkers, and jeez, that's about as much
eye to eye contact as i want. that's why i'm often online, so i can pull
the plug if i feel antisocial.

i am also in the neighborhood of 100 words per minute, and i use shortcuts
(albeit a GUI newsreader), so posting is not a big time investment.

i actually have a love / hate thing with Usenet. i think being here reminds
me of the old days of using the AOL newsreader and text-readers.
