Almost as frustrating as people who come into a group expecting to control
it to suit their needs.

Right. YOU fit in. Not...a group with behaviour patterns dating back ten
years or more will change to accommodate you.

You and your conundrum are welcome to stay and get to know a lot of the very
fine people in this group, but to do it you will have to give up on the way
you want it and settle for the way it is. You can take steps to make your
stay here as comfortable as possible, by kill-filing, or deleting, or simply
ignoring anyone who frustrates you, but dictating to everyone else how to do
it for you, is an exercise in futility.

It is that simple. If a post or poster bothers you...DON'T read them.
See...simple. You can stamp your foot and roll your eyes like a petulant
child all you want, but just like in the real world, you don't always get
your own way just because you say so. I suggest you spank your inner
moppet, grow up, and join the ranks of the adult world where we understand
and cope with these things. Or move on. Your choice.

The reasons this place is the way it is and the people are all insane
is that they have no class and lack dignity.

They don't think they are worth it.

No, you're being a sweetheart.

BTW, that's sarcasm. I don't feel the slightest bit degraded... must be a
personal problem.

I'm a bit interested in Mr Sheppard... I wonder if it's his habit, when
introducing himself to a bunch of new people, to fling his feces all
around the room. I have to assume he's just a troll.

The first thing you need to learn about depression is that your
depression isn't everyone elses depression.

I realise this thread is probably getting too long for people to read the
whole way through, but you missed something.

In either case, I didnt expect to control the group. My intention was to
state how I saw it, I don't believe I asked anyone to change (apart from
perhaps not using sarcasm as a way of either retailiating or wanting to miss
the point). I just wanted to state what I saw from an outsiders perspective.
Its often helpful to have a fresh eyes on a problem. Expecially if you've
been in that problem for years. (Perhaps the initial problem was the tone of
the post suggested I saw it as a problem when it isnt necessarily one, but I
did quickly state otherwise) Its fairly obvious not many people liked that
and thats fine.

You are right though, It is somewhat irrational to get frustrated over being
misunderstood. I will stop.

At the same time perhaps some of you guys could check your sarcasm. If
you dont think its bad, take another look at my original post.

Anyway, there was some nice friendly posts and I thank those people as im
trying to be more positive.

Time to get the cool new car? Just bought the best, coolest car I've ever
owned myself... I'm trying not to draw parallels to all the
mid-life-crisis cliches I've ever heard of. I'm hoping I'm not that
transparent.

People that have lived with depression... that have learned how to deal
with depression... that have come to understand depression... that
have (and LISTEN to this) discussed depression, at length, with other
people with similar issues... have been dealing with outsiders
perspectives about depression their entire lives John. We've been told
it's all in our minds... we've been overly medicated by a medical
profession that has no real idea what's going on... we've been given drugs
to cure us that MAKE us suicidal... we've been locked in iron cages...
we've been strapped to tables and electrocuted... had leaches applied...
been bled... you name it. We don't really give a damn about outside
perspectives.

> You are right though, It is somewhat irrational to get frustrated over
> being misunderstood. I will stop.

Don't be frustrated... and don't stop. I think you'll find this is one of
the few places in the world that you can say anything, and even if people
don't agree with you they, most likely, understand you. I trust most of
the people in this group more than I trust the "real" people that I know.
They won't tell you what you want to hear... sometimes you'll find
sympathy... other times you'll get a swift kick in the ass. Pay attention
when the reaction you get isn't the reaction you were expecting.

Keep in mind this is a depression support group, not a depression
discussion group. I think talking about depression 24/7 would be very
depressing for most of us... so let's talk about Jane's boobs.

> At the same time perhaps some of you guys could check your sarcasm.
> If you dont think its bad, take another look at my original post.

I'm a very sarcastic person... trust me, my sarcasm didn't lead to my
depression and it's not a defense mechanism... perhaps it's simply an
extension of my love for Shakespeare.

> Anyway, there was some nice friendly posts and I thank those people as
> im trying to be more positive.

It's nice that you think trying to be more positive might lead to
alleviating your depression (sorry, that was very sarcastic) but
everyone's experience and even their symptoms are different... if it works
for you go for it.

But instead of telling all of us what we appear to be from your
perspective why don't you tell us about you? How are you today John?
What's going on with you? I don't care what it is or what your experience
is or how much worse or insignificant or different you think it is from
everyone else, I guarantee you, someone here can relate and has had the
same or, at the very least, a similar experience.

Other than that, I'd like to get back to the topic of Jane's boobs.
