A hospital week

My roommate is in intensive care. Ambulance took him to the hospital
Tuesday, throwing up, couldn't walk again. 11 hours in the emergency
room, stippled with tests. Wednesday, more tests. I sat with him for
a 1 hour X-ray, with nuclear isotopes injected to see what was up.
(I'll never be able to have children now). The gall bladder didn't
show up. So it was blocked. They operated Thursday morning at 7:30
am. ('Scrubs' is accurate. They all line up like a SWAT team, waiting
to do their thing, while the comedy flys.). The surgeon said it was
nearly gangrenous. So since he's 86, they put him in intensive care.
He finally is talking today. They said that he really got beat up
during the operation, concerned for his heart. Anyway, it's a nice
little hospital. No nursing home, I'm taking him home when I can. (
But what a dreary day) This is why I moved downstate, cause my mother
and sister have been great with him, helping me... I just want to
sleep, sleep and sleep some more.

hang in there brian...you are a good roomie!!! and caretaker, of course.

i'm glad they finally figured it out and got the damn thing out, sure
would've been better sooner but...........sigh

you need to rest
you can't be your best for not only yourself but others if you're totally
exhausted and running on adrenaline.......
so please rest when you can

Thank you, U2. I'm hangin'. He looked so sad . I met another doctor
tonight. They all seem to be concerned about his heart, low BP and
slow rate, I think. I asked if he had a heart attack during the
operation. Like the cardiologist told me last night, we'll know in a
few days. I never understand these guys, the heart is electronics to
me, and I know nothing of electronics. All I can do is recite the
medications he's on, his medical history, all this stuff they already
know. I do better just sitting there with him, it's quiet, he nods
off, I'm reading St Augustines "Confessions". But now I'm home and
agitated. Gotta turn off the brain for the night, ya know? Peace.

It was windy as heck at the hospital, and nobody took down the flags
for the night. Made an amazing sound, I smoked 2 cigarettes alone and
picked up 10 cigarette butts, wet and stuck to the concrete. I like
that little hospital. I'm babbling, Dan. Peace.

Thanks Jane, but a lot of people are plunged into the situation. I'm
sure must of us have been or will be caregivers someday. for me, it's
a religious thing, of which I won't give details here. there's a club
where if you are the most humble person in the room, they give you a
medal. But as soon as you put it on, they take it away.
Truthfully, if my life wasn't always in chaos, I wouldn't be
comfortable. It's nice to be needed. And lonely in this house without
Bobbie Blueberry, bright bronze bruiser. He's going to rally this
week, I'm going to walk in and the nurses will have him walking around.

I've had to take care of someone that couldn't do for himself b 4. It
is very stressful. Set some time just for yorself. You also need to be
healthy for whom you are taking care of. My thoughts and prayers are
w/the both of you.

I've had to take care of someone that couldn't do for himself b 4. It
is very stressful. Set some time just for yorself. You also need to be
healthy for whom you are taking care of. My thoughts and prayers are
