Default I have a theory and that theory is this...

Product descriptions in catelogues or online stores are works of art,
really...full of marketing terms and invented technical processes or
materials that when pointed out can make you LOL...

From REI:
Marmot Resolution Gore-Tex Jacket - Men's $450.00
highly breathable and ideal for extended comfort (breathable wins for
most overused bullshit term)
Storm hood with Cranium Cord adjustment (LOL) perfects the fit and
maximizes peripheral vision

Aegix A1 Jacket - Men's $350.00
features an integrated protection system to help lessen injuries
without compromising mobility

Marmot Storm King Jacket - Men's $370.00
Angel-Wing Movement™ sleeve construction allows unrestricted range of
motion

you might not think it was bullshit if you had to work (or
backpack) all day in the rain in it. i did environmental
fieldwork one summer and invested in a new raincoat halfway
through.

i was into high end audio in the 90s. mainly i listened to it (only bought
mid fi stuff) and read up on the designs in magazines. anyway, the
advertisments would be filled with pseudoscience.

silver conductors (as if they work better than copper for audio)

99.99999% pure metals (so what)

little wooden disks that you put on your wall (why don't they use those in
music studios)

100 khz amps (my tweeters and cd player don't go that high, maybe my dog can
appreciate it)

exotic capacitors and resistors (i talked to a professor who designed world
famous gear, and he said it's unneccessary)

to see what real *bullshit* is like, open up The Absolute Sound or
Stereophile.

Non-breathable's okay if you're just going to stand around getting
rained on. If you want to do something, or if it's hot and rainy,
breathable makes life bearable. Getting breathable and silent is the
trick, and essential for birding in the rain.
