I've had them do that if they're battery powered. Maybe you should
either get new batteries or find one with a cord.

i was thinking about manually ugrading this fella with a chord, or
permanently connecting the charger to it to achieve the same effect
(thus eliminating the need to buy anew and effectively recycling it...)

Rebuild the battery pack. I did it with a friend's Panasonic drill. He
had to use sub-C cells but it's running stellar now and before it was
just like yours - 8 screws and then back to the charger.

His was the "fast charger" kind, so he had to pick up the R/C car type
batteries that can live with being slam charged.

Of course if you can't open it up or the thought of soldering up a new
battery pack is daunting, then it's not a project for you.

I got a cheap one that can barely manage one screw, and I've never seen it
run at all - it just lies there. I think it needs counselling.
