Default now, this guy had a *really* bad day

Two perspectives on one guy's very bad day:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nora-e...s_b_31800.html

http://www.newyorker.com/talk/conten...alk_paumgarten

I'd just read a news report on it (just the facts, ma'am) till I just
now googled for it...it's been several days since I heard about it,
and I can't get the story outta my mind.

The guy who's bad day it was seems to be taking it in stride, from the
New Yorker's account...though he has the kind of money that allows one
to brush something like that off, monetarily. But I wouldn't want to
be known as the guy who put my elbow through a Picasso.

I don't know.

One of the comments in response to the story...P.S. All my Picassos have a
piece of 3/8 inch plywood backing nailed to the frame...says it all. Anyone
who owns any art of value should know enough to do this. I can't imagine
why a die-hard collector like Steve Wynn would not have thought to do it
too.

Just to be able to use the phrase "all my Picassos" says a lot. But
yeah, you're right. I can't say that I know the ins and outs of art
collecting, but you'd think Steve Wynn would.

And ... baseball cards and what not?

You're asking the wrong person. I collect teddy bears...well, not so
much any more, but I have well over 100. I've heard that you are
supposed to put a nylon over the nozzle of a vacuum hose and vaccuum
them fairly regularly. That's not something that's ever happened to
these bears.

I do try to protect them from the cats, though. I used to have some
bears of all sizes near the floor (in a wagon or whatever). That
stopped when I realized that one of the cats was carrying off some of
the smaller mohair bears in her mouth as if they were oversized toy
mice.

I also have a several of the nicer ones in a cabinet (display case)
these days.
