Mark, % and I are cool with each other in general, and on this matter in
particular. % was very kind to me during my mother's illness and with
regard to her passing, and so I don't have any ill will toward him at
all about this.
Lord knows I've been overly reactive and gone off on people hereabouts
by misinterpreting what they wrote; numerous people here on a.s.d have
done the same. But life's too short to hold grudges. It's like drinking
poison and expecting the other person to die.
I didn't mean to piss off %, and I felt bad that that's what happened.
So I apologized. Whether what I did merited an apology isn't the point.
The point is that he was pissed off by what I wrote, which I didn't mean
to happen, and I was sorry that happened (and still am). I don't know
much of what % is going through; not for a minute have either of us
walked in the other's shoes. Thus I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
And I don't regret it.
I realize this is a public forum. But this really is primarily a matter
between % and me. And we've reconciled it amicably; the end. I also know
% rates rather low with you. But he and I don't have a problem with each
other. I don't agree with every single word he posts. I don't have to;
neither does anyone else. But in this case, he and I have made peace and
moved on. Please let it rest. |

well, i'm in austin, but no, i don't think so. we have that new open
container law. well, it's not so new anymore. apparently you can still
driv thru and pick up a alcohol in a keg or other type of container, just
don't open it til you get home. |

First of all, I didn't mention you specifically.
Second of all, look a little farther back in this thread to your
remarks about how you "do see alot of halos in here at times. folks
pretending to be far more perfect than they really are", and consider
who brought you into the fray on this particular occasion.

Well, you know, poking at someone and then asking them not to poke back
isn't the best way to not get poked. Let's just call it even (one
non-identifying allusion for another non-identifying allusion) and
leave it at that, if you're really interested in staying out of this.

Ever read or watch "Lonesome Dove"? Scene where the town whore,
officially retired, agrees to thump a guy if he picks the high card:
Lorena: "Gus, when you cut the cards before, you cheated, didn't you?"
Gus: "Well, Lori, I won't say I did and I won't say I didn't but I will
say this -- a man who isn't willing to cheat at cards for a poke don't
want it bad enough." |

It's one of my very, very, very favorites. Everything about it is
amazing, but especially Robert Duvall. I could go on for a long time
about that movie. There's a lot of wisdom in there.
Have you read the original novel?

Roffle*3! Do you cry out, "Poke me, poke me!" in ecstasy?

I'm sure you meant me. I'm sure several others did too, whether or not
you intended to poke them. asd's like that - issue a general
unpleasantness and half the group gets hurt.
