Default The 1/2 diet will work

All this two pound diet weighing stuff is for the birds. Here is a
method that always works to lose weight, no million dollar prizes
required thank you and no scales to lug around, it uses the measures you
already use at meal time which are familiar and easy to use.. With two
pounds you are taking a chance that you will lose or gain weight because
it is not tied to your calories needs forheight and activity level.

Whatevr you now consume now in calories to maintain your current weight
status is too much if you are overweight as it is medically defined.

Start simply eating 1/2 of everything you do now. Instead of two eggs
for breakfast have one. Instead of two sandwiches for lunch have one.
Instead of two servings at dinner have one. You will in time lose
weight.

If you should reach a point where no additional weight is lost for a
reasonable time but your goal is not met, half food intake again. By
the time you do gain the weight of your goal you will have enough
experience with food amounts to know exactly how much to consume to
maintain it.

Exercise aids in the loss as it consumes calories and changes tissue
cells in a way that results in continued weight loss even after you have
stopped exercising for the day. It makes loss biologically more
effective in several ways.


Seek information to know what foods will give you the most nutritional
bang for those reduced amounts you consume.

You make it like you discovered something new. People have been
successfully portion controlling for years. All the major diets use it.
I have been using it for eight years. It is exactly right for me.

Because it may not be true? Half of 9,000 true calories when you expend
only 2,000 = weight gain but don't tell the Original Poster Doofus.

My 8th grade science tells me that current weight is maintained by about
10 calories intake per pound per day. So to get that about 900 pound
weight down to 450, one would half calorie intake to achieve that new
lower weight status. Once reached, one can half again etc. until one
achieves the weight level desired, by which time one will know by hands
on experience what amounts of food will maintain the new weight status.

No weighing food, no million dollar prizes no trash science, just 8th
grade arithmetic and science, and using the already familiar measures of
food one uses each day at each meal, and just half them..

No need, the 1/2 diet says just half ones usual daily portions for each
meal. Instead of two eggs have one, instead of two sandwiches have one
and instead of two servings of meat and potatoes have one. With two
fingers and a 1st grade level grasp of number theor and set theory one
can do it.

then I think it very likely that

Only common sense. Did you bring your scales?

This makes sense, has a scientific basis, and practical to follow. More
importantly, no scales - and no looking like a 'Mu'ppet.

It really depends on *what* you eat as well as *how much* you consume.
Porton control was never a problem for me -- I never did eat overly large
portions. However, I ate *all the wrong foods* prior to diagnosis. I lost
a lot of weight once I changed the type of foods I eat, and I actually eat
larger portions (emphasis on foods such as fresh fruit and veggies now
contrasted with lots of "sweets" previously).
