Default Action Hero Makeover

was on before, but it was repeated tonight on the "Discovery Health
Channel... if
you have this channel and you get a chance, try to watch the segment they
had on
with Gil Gerrard, the actor that played "Buck Rogers" in the mid 80's iirc.
He goes
in for a gastric bypass and they follow him for the first year and how he
does. He
also goes into shortly about how sick he was prior and what made him want
the
surgery... how even with several medications he was a Type 2 diabetic and
his
fasting was over 300 often.. and within 1 month of his surgery he'd lost
54lbs and
his fasting was down to 105 and he no longer was taking any medication.. the
only
thing that pissed me off, was he said, "I no longer have diabetes now."
WRONG!
not a good thing for a well known actor to say imho. His trigs were 994,
down to
112, with just the weight loss. (or so they said.) He went from 352lbs down
to 210lbs.
He also stated that all of his heart problems were now gone as well and he
no longer
has to take medications for that.. They showed him sitting in his doctors
office after
they'd done blood work and went over his results. He also stated that he
was walking
several miles a day.. mostly on the golf course, he said with a huge grin.

But, he also was out advocating weight loss for young adults and adults to
help them
get motivated to lose weight. They also had a small section with President
Clinton
talking about how he believes the US is a nation of Obesity, how kids aren't
learning
like they used to because of being so overweight, they don't have the
energy... how
adults aren't as productive at work anymore and how he feels this is causing
a downward
effect in our national healthcare costs.

Either way.. it was a pretty good program.

Default Re: Action Hero Makeover

I have seen something similar to this with Gil Gerard. I couldnt
believe my eyes when I saw how this gorgeous hunk of a man turned so
morbidly obese. I am glad he is in control now. I agree he shouldnt
say he doesnt have diabetes anymore. Let him eat a pound of cookes and
tell me his numbers.
