Default Blood Pressure

What is a good blood pressure montior to buy and do you think my
insurance will pay for it ? or will I have to pay out of pocket. (BCBS).
Thanks,
Ermma

Best to ask your insurer that question. I use an Omron, but
any good home tester will do.

You'd have to ask your insurance. I've never had insurance pay for one.
Omron is a good brand. I currently have LifeSource. The reason I went with
that one is that it has different sized cuffs so the whole family can use
it. You do have to buy the other cuffs separately.

That would depend on your insurance. The VA gave me one.

The best one to buy is the one your insurance company prefers to cover
the cost of the strips for. And many times with insurance companies,
BCBS included, if you contact in advance they will send you a free
meter.

that what I get for posting after work. I see the words blood and
monitor and automatically assume we're discussing BG monitors.

I use the Wal-Greens brand wrist cuff. Checks accurate with my doctor. Was
$59.99, but am getting a $20 rebate. Pretty good memory store and for 2
people. I like the talking ones, but they were out of them.

Emma I have a machine, but I had to pay out of pocket, I never thought
of insuranc covering it. I wonder if a doctor prescribes it for you, if
it can be covered.

The one I use is called Mark of Fitness and it is a wrist cuff. I find
it very accurate.

I use an omicron with the arm cuff, which is what my Endo recommended. He
was less enthusiastic about the writst one or the non-automatic ones for
self testing.

I've used an Omron HEM-637 wrist cuff type for the last two years. I've
checked it three times against the VA machines and it compares closely. The
clinic nurse and my doctor feel positively about mine and the doctor wants
to see my bp charting when I go in for check-ups.

YMMV?

I use an Omicron wrist cuff and it matches the apparatus in my doctor's
office.
