| | | Blood Sugar, Cytomel, Cortisol, Anxiety and Tapering off Cytomel and Cortisol. Hi. I may have reason to believe that my cytomel dose of 50mcg is too
high. My last TSH was .04. My Hemoglobin AC1 test was 6.0 (4.8-6.0)
normal. It seems an hour and a half after when I eat in the morning I
get anxiety attacks and chills and sweats. I was cutting down on my
Perocet and Xanax a little at a time. From 5-7.5 to 4-7.5 and from 4,
3.5 .5mg Xanax to 3 over a 3 week period. My arthritis doc, who gave
me the Percs, which I do not need that much anymore, not at that dose,
says cutting down on this that slow would not cause these symptoms. I
have read that Hyperthyroidism can cause hyperglycemia. My resting
pulse rate is 72-75 and I recently lost 10 pounds due to Oral Surgery,
having 9 rotten teeth out. My question is could the Cytomel be causing
the abnormal blood sugar which causes the anxiety? The fright or
flight response seems to be triggered after eating in the morning when
I take my Cytomel. And if it is how slow does one have to go on
cutting down the Cytomel? 1/2 tablet a week would be 12mcg per week
reduction. Is this too fast? Also I have been taking Isocort 20-25 mg
cortisol per day. I have read an excess of cortisol could cause
anxiety attacks. Since my inflammation numbers are down after the Oral
Surgery I do not think I need the Cortisol anymore. Well any
information on my post would be appreciated!
Thanks. jd. |

What you describe after eating sure sounds like my past hypoglycemic
episosdes. Hypoglycemics need to eat smaller protein meals, more
frequently during the day, not cereal, muffins, etc. for breakfast, for
instance. I don't know about the role of Cytomel, but that sure is a
LOT of it. I took 5mcg.

You're not taking cortisol, you're suppressing it from your adrenals,
and replacing it with a synthetic steroid. Cortisone can cause
diabetes, agitation, etc. You really need to discuss this with an
endocrinologist.

First, are you sure it's 50 mcg. ? I take ten mcg per day.
Also, because thyroid replacement therapy is so precise,
the usual instructions are to NOT take it with food in order
to have a consistent absorption.

Please don't make uninformed experiments with thyroid replacement.
If you have to ask, then you don't have enough medical training
to be adjusting meds without a doctor's advice.

The first one was hardly noticed.
The second was mildly irritating.
All the rest are offensive.

After ignoring several I thought that the dude does seem to be
reading posts. So maybe, just maybe, he'll think about whether
Google, the owner of blogspot, might consider them offensive as well.

| | | Re: Blood Sugar, Cytomel, Cortisol, Anxiety and Tapering offCytome... JD, what I am about to say is with the best intentions. You seem to
suffer many anxiety (panic?) attacks. If this is so are you in therapy
with a psychiatrist who can help get over them with the proper
medication.
If there is help out there, why dou you have to suffer

Panic attacks can also be related to thyroid. If the thyroid is out of
whack, particularly hyperthyroid you can feel like you are having a panic
attack. |

My shrink put me on cytomel. I asked for it because of Broda Barnes
and his STUPID Basal temp test crap!! I just took my Basal temp and it
is 97.4 and my Oral temp is 99. My heart rate is 72-75 resting, high
blood pressure, anxiety, blood surag problems in morning after I take
the cytomel. I am seeing a reg doc then an endocrinologist this week.
We shall sort this out! Too much thyroid can cause imbalances in blood
sugar or hyperglycemia. So perhaps I do not even need to be on thyroid
hormone. We will go by the TSH and not this basal temp crap; at least
its crap for me!! |

You need to go by more than TSH. You should also have your T3 and T4
checked, but if they Endo. is any good, he/she will do that. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
