I HAVE A FELLOW THAT GOES OUT OF IS WAY TO HELP ME
He became a Grandfather last week.
Next week his son in law returns to Iraq for another tour.
This fellow still suffers from damage he suffered in Vietnam.
So easy to post support of war for others when you feel safe.
We may not be safe forever.. A few more mistakes

Who says he has to use OT? People can post to a newsgroup in any
manner they desire. Guy's not using OT is no different than your
stirring up the shit with your Iraq sig line. Get off his back.
If you do not like the way Guy posts to ASD, then KFile him. It is

Yes, people get to decide how they want to behave on Usenet. Once they have
done so, though, they live with the consequences of it. I tend to suspect
that guy does not want to be widely filtered out.
> Guy's not using OT is no different than your

Not true. There's nothing about sig lines in either general Usenetiquette or
the ASD FAQ. There are, however, issues of topicality, in both!
> Get off his back.
Asking someone to mark OT posts, or remarking on the lack of it, is NOT
getting or being on someone's back.

Indeed, yet many people prefer to first ask someone to comply first & filter
them out only after they make it clear they have no interest in the NG FAQ
specifically, or Usenetiquette in general.

Dictate? How does anyone get 'dictating' from Mack's remarks here? And, is
Mack not free from your dictating how he can post in reply to guy?!

Perhaps Mack does not dictate on how people post to ASD, but a very

may and may not post.

strange how some people do not see in themselves exactly what they are

you need to learn the difference between asking someone to clarify
what they are saying verses telling someone they cannot post.
you might also want to practice what you preach. If Guy doesn't want
his posts, as disjointed as they are at times, from being criticized
he wouldn't post in a public forum. So if you do not like how I
respond to him or anyone else, practice what you preach, and use your

"shortcomings of age", "leave him alone he is an old man".
Interesting. This is a text medium, it levels the playing field in
regards to many aspects of age, race, creed, gender, orientation and
even physical disabilities.
For example, it levels the field between someone who is typing using a
straw in their mouth or dictation software and someone who types 30+
words a minute.
what I find interesting is that you view Guy's age as a shortcoming. I
don't. For me his age in relation to his ability to stand up for
himself in a text forum never came up till you mentioned it.
Try looking for a real windmill to tilt at. Your imaginary ones cause
you to embarrass yourself.
