Yes, I am. He is blaming me for everything and worse yet he is on the phone
to anyone and everyone who will listen, complaining to them about how I am
rejoicing at his soon to be death and how happy I am. Which of course is a
lie. I can't seem to escape the stress. When I try to get Angela out of
the house, he complains to me about that as though it were a bad thing. And
believe me, listening to him cough almost non-stop is stressful enough. I
also think (but can't prove) that he is doing a lot of the coughing on
purpose or at least making it sound a lot worse than it is. He will yell
and yell and keep coughing through the yelling. Anyone else would realize
that talking or yelling or whatever is making the coughing worse and stop,
but not him. Grrr...

Wow! That's horrible.

Worse in my case now, I got a call from the Dr. who said they can't see him
until they get authorization from our insurance and they haven't gotten it.
If he doesn't go in tomorrow, I don't know what I shall do. I can't take
much more of this.

Ohhh, dear Julie !

What can anyone say to help ? ... if there were a formula, I would say it.

As it is, your situation seems quite bad and I can only compare it to the
time I lost my wife after 30 years together.

I was bad .. I mean, really bad and although I never subscribed to self
pity,
I was close to it. I won't even say how out of order my regime was !

There would be days, almost weeks when I needed support and felt I didn't
get it, although I could have gone to see my friends as often as I wanted,
I didn't, preferring to save the visits to them and keep them still special.

Years later, I wished that I had relied on them more. They are still my
best
friends and although his wife is now depressed and I will try to do things
for them this xmas, my wife and her pregnancy must come first (she's due
on 21 dec, but I figure she will be late - hopefully after xmas).

As for hubby, I have to hope that all he has is a very bad throat infection.
I had an op. about 4 years ago that left me with the knowledge that I had
an adenoma on my prostate - fortunately benign (the Dr. said most are
benign)
but I sometimes wonder whether I should not get another scan and check
to ensure that it is not progressing ...

There, I rambled on to not much avail, except to say that I support you in
your travails and hope that you see your importance in here and at home
with your daughter. I have to say that mothers (mine in particular,
although
she is now deceased some 13 years ago - she left school at 13 and still
raised
a family of 5 children, all of whom made it to 50 years or more) often have
it hard being the support of all the family.

You have done admirably and continue to show an outstanding example to
Angela, who is absorbing everything that is going on, whether you realise it
or not. It was the case for my daughter, now 30.

Stay strong, find ways to 'air' your life and Angelas. You have lots of
support
in here and rant as much and as often as you feel like it.

Frank

I do have good friends. They're just rather busy with the holidays and all.

I don't think it's a throat infection. They said that at one point but he
has been on antibiotics for months now and now this mass on the kidney.

Keep in mind men are big bratty baies when we get sick and lash out at loved
ones because we feel safe doing so..especially since we dont have the
cognitive brain power to express what we are really upset about..lol.
Sad but true.
When i was sick pre dx i was a mega jerk arse...i mean i always am but NEVER
to my wife..
I returned to normal after getting control and apologised profusely to my
wife.
Im sure hubby is frustrated that he is sick and cant be the strong person he
thinks himself to be.

I loved nut filled fruitcakes..didnt like the fruiter ones.
Ya know i can eat strawberries and pinapple..i bet those would be a tasty
almost dessert snack if dried..
Anyone ever candy fruit with stuff like sorbitol or liquid splenda?
Maybe if you dipped the fruit in liquid splenda then dried it ..it would
make it like candied fruit?

No. I don't generally eat desserts.

Never had one with just fruit in it. But I will try it. Actually I might
make some with nuts and some without. I guess I could do that!

> Ya know i can eat strawberries and pinapple..i bet those would be a tasty

Blech. I hate pineapple. Breaks my mouth out. I was buying some "Just
Strawberries", last Spring. I liked them okay. They didn't seem like a
dessert, but I quickly grew tired of them. I am just not a fruit person.
Fruitcake is different though.

> Anyone ever candy fruit with stuff like sorbitol or liquid splenda?

I don't think you can. It won't crystallize. And I can't eat any of the
"tols". They make me deathly ill. I don't know about liquid Splenda. If
we get it here, I've never seen it. Not that I've looked for it.

> Maybe if you dipped the fruit in liquid splenda then dried it ..it would

Nope. Candied fruit is often the peel of the fruit although there are some
whole fruits that are candied. I've tried to make it with sugar and it's a
pain in the butt. Takes days to do it right. Boiling and straining to get
the bitterness out. Then the candying. Going to just buy the stuff. I'm
only going to eat one.

I know I'm lucky to have mine ... she's gorgeous, 9 months pregnant
and still does all the housework while waiting for her daughter to arrive !

Hey, my wife is only 18 months older than my daughter.

On the other side, she says she wants nobody else but me ... she runs
to pick up things I drop on the ground (I have bad sciatica and am in
pain most of the time, hence my postings at all hours of the day) and
never once a complaint ...

OTOH, I am never ever irritated with her, never get upset and she
marvels at my calmness even when I'm in pain.

You are, indeed, one lucky cradle snatcher, Frank! I, too, have found that
always speaking in a gentle voice, with kind and loving words, ameliorates
the fact that I'm a jerk much of the time. "Thank you, honey" is so easy to
say!

When I spoke to my kid brother last weekend, he indicated remorse that he
has been yelling at his wife lately. She's quite a bit younger than him and
they've been married about 15 years. He's been T2 for over 25 years. I
asked him to send me a list of his meds, so I can check out if any of them
might be implicated in his behavior change. No reply yet. I'll 'big
brother' him this weekend. I don't want to fly from LA to Connecticut to
kick his butt!

he needs counseling. Seriously. He needs help. It's not uncommon
especially in males with severe illness to react in this way. A dear
friend of mine was far worse when he was going through end stage renal
cancer.

He didn't mean everything he said and most of what he said was cruel
and heartless and some quite insane. He tested everyone's loyalty,
intentionally. This guy was loaded and would borrow money from people
who had little to as much as he did. He always paid it back within a
few days. But if you turned him down, he wouldn't speak to you for
days, while he went on and on ranting about how you betrayed him. Then
suddenly he forgot that it ever happened.

Your husband is no where near as bad as Don was. And knowing he has a
problem or might have a problem coping with his situation is no
justification for his hurting you.

That's why it is absolutely necessary for caregivers to know and
practice taking good care of themselves includes taking a break from
the sick people they are caring for in order to renew themselves.

Taking care of yourself is not betraying him, or abandoning him or
showing gratitude or impatience to see him die.

It is simply giving yourself what you need so that you can be there
for and yourself in the future.

obviously you are neither a human male nor a diabetic male. as you are

OBVIOUSLY, as usual you have no idea what you are talking about.

But as you may have noted in my post, I wrote "not all men are ** uncaring,
immature and cowardly" OBVIOUSLY you are not a man yet.
