    Default Gastroparesis and Erythomycin

I have Gastroparesis and took 4 Propulsid every day until it was
    pulled.
Now the doc wants me to start Erythromycin. He didn't tell me how many
to take per day and they are 250mg's.
Anyone used this for this problem?
I have tried Creon and other digestants plus those OC things and not a
lot works but Mylanta to keep everything moving.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Erythromycin is an antibiotic. Do you have an infection?

Yes indeed, I do know it is an Antibiotic and I also know it is
commonly prescribed for Gastroparesis for Diabetics and others. There
are many citations on its use on the Internet. Just haven't had a
chance to read all of them.
As to an infection I don't believe so and my labs don't show any
    problems.
    Thnks.

Erythromycin is dispensed by prescription so it should say on the
bottle how many the doctor prescribed for you to take per day.

Ask your doctor. He should know the dose and frequency.

And it should be printed on the label from the pharmacy.

The doc gave me 21 tabs of 250mg. samples to see if it works, I think
it is one am and one pm with meals. Will check on Wednesday when he
    returns.

But of course, that is so simple but he won't return til Wednesday. I
have 21 tabs. Most assuredly he knows the amount and times of
    consumption.

There is no label this is a sample of 21 tabs, 250 mg. I checked with
the pharmacist and he thought it was three times a day but I am pretty
sure it was twice a day. It seems to be working already. My abdomen
in already down and the pain is far less.

Did he just give you samples and no prescribing information? If so you need
to call him and ask him how many and how often.

I am being treated for possible Gastroparesis but am on Metoclopramide. I
take it only before bed but I know it can be taken as often as with each
    meal.

I don't know what Creon is, but I fail to see how Mylanta would help. I
also take Prevacid for GERD which can be a side effect of Gastroparesis.
The food doesn't empty out so it starts going back up along with stomach
    acid.

I can't take Erythromycin because it puts me in agony within 20 minutes of
swallowing one pill and soon I am puking up stuff I haven't even eaten yet.
    Hope it works for you!
