I have to go and pay bills and go to aquarobics. I so hope she is home by
then, the suspense is awful |

| | | Re: Home from hospital Okay, rather than wait to include it in the details, I will tell you that
after the third day of infusion, I was able to
WALK 200 FEET
using a wheeled walker.
I have been sent home (they will deliver it tomorrow) with a walker so it
will enable me to go outside, and walk in front of the house in the
beautiful sunshine like it was today had I had it then, and had I been
home!!!! *big smiley face*
I cannot explain to you how it felt to walk, and what standing I did without
my legs shaking and tremoring. No. They were smooth and natural feeling as
could be. I turned, and headed back toward my room, where Jim was waiting,
but could feel them begin to give away, and decided it was not worth showing
off for. A nurse standing behind me, said, "You're right, it's not
worth showing off for (over-doing), so sat down and took the easy way back
to my room. :-)" (trusty chair
Just a bit of the week's accomplishments. Getting off here to eat a bite
now, and write a note, plus see all that's been going on here. Sure hope
its' been, well, congenial. I'm just SO happy to be back HOME HERE! See
you later gang!

| | | Re: Home from hospital Well, Cripey Susan, I do no know. lol All I know is that I still am in the
process of being tested. I've been given more explicit directions on what
to do. It *IS* more of a problem, but ........ I feel there are so many
working on it (yea, carrying my coffin , that we'll have it under wraps.
It *does* seem that the choking itself is better, but the pain after
swallowing is worse. My eating was more regulated than here at home, and
I've got to find a way to do that, and I'd like to discuss that later. *s*
I've got some more studying to do on the swallowing that the Speech
Pathologist gave to me. I might possibly end up with a feeding tube. There
are still just so many feeding issues going on. Anxious to see the gastro
guy now that I've gotten started.
Now, I'll try to see if I can cover all the things about the hospital. You
all will not believe the most positive comments I have about the dietary
department, and how they treated me.
I have a meningitis type head ache (common with the IVIg), and am going to
try to quietly recap everything now that Jim has gone to bed. Ashley has
gone home for the night. Quietness is great!! :-) The first I think I've
had in a while.
News while we were out tonight........... they will deliver my rolling
walker at 9:30 in the morning, then guess who is going to try for a walk!
Billie :-)
p.s. oops.... forgot to send this. *s* sorry

Billie, it sounds like you still have lots of challenges ahead of you,
but maybe more energy and strength to address them with? How long do
improvements usually keep accruing?

Ohmigosh! Billie that is just awesome news! I'm so excited. Wow! I
can't believe how fast the infusion has worked! (Okay, I have to calm
down. I'm using way too many exclamation points. ;-)
So does your doctor expect to see more advances over time? And will
you have more treatments?

: Billie, it sounds like you still have lots of challenges ahead of you,
: but maybe more energy and strength to address them with? How long do
: improvements usually keep accruing?
:
: Susan
Last question answered first will be my first question to the doc on my
follow-up visit. *s* I do not know for how long the improvements will keep
accruing. I go back to researching after catching up with you all. Wonder
how many people's plasma is cursing through my veins? Whenever I thought of
something happening that had not happened in years, I suddenly thought of
all the people's plasma running through..... hahaha...... could see their
little cells just running through me. I go back in a month for the next
treatment, and then the third month for the last treatment. They are laid
out in these three monthly treatments, and from then on as needed. I have
much more to learn and understand about it.
There is DEFINITELY more strength and energy to address the challenges now,
even after just this first treatment. Susan, I've never known anything but
challenges. They will not stop, only change in type, duration, etc. This
even addresses the Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune
diseases, so that will be interesting to see what happens with those. LOL
I've even forgotten what they are like after the diabetes and the MG hit;
the others have been around so long, the RA since my first baby was born 43
years ago. The diabetes was addressed within the swallowing issue, and may
be an easy way for me to count carbs. hehe
See you later!

| | | Re: Home from hospital Michelle, you are just as bad as I am/was. I actually have not seen *my*
doctor since that Friday after the 3rd infusion. Man, isn't our
gammagloblulin powerful, and when it turns against our own bodies. Though
I've been bombarded with it (against my body) since early childhood, I'm
just now learning about it. The web with reports on how it all works is
helping me to understand it all more, and now the treatment on how it is
fixed. Is this *some* pathway on curing type I diabetes? IVIG has been
around for a while, but scientifically relative??? Maybe just not long
enough. They' re just still in the works.????? It's expensive.
Yes, the immunoglobulin is expected to work that fast, even with the first
treatment. This is a good sign, in fact of my body's acceptance and
reaction. There are three monthly treatments to the treatment. I'll go
back for the second of three infusions of three days. In my details, I'll
explain why it took so long.
The future? No one knows. My doctor cannot tell as far I understand. I'll
know more, I'm sure after my follow-up visit. Most likely better. ;-)
Thanks!!!
Billie...... now with lots of other people's plasma running around inside!!
lol

| | | Re: Home from hospital Thanks, Alan.
I will be continually learning, so I will be sharing with you. If too much
for here, I can send to you privately. The energy increase was what was
probably most dramatic, and noticed by all in the hospital. The affect on
my eyelids, also, which was the strengthening of the eyelid muscles to lift
them (some). That made my eyes appear brighter than when admitted. Add
together, and you have someone closer to the older, real me than has been in
years, and, well..... exciting! Only Ashley, and Jim's family has seen me
since coming home and all agree it's like old times, especially his sister
whom I've known and had laughed with for 45 years.
Jim and I went through Friday and Saturday going over "look, remember how
xxxx used to be?" completely having forgotten throughout the years how much
had been lost. I think I'll be signing my own checks before long! My
handwriting had smoothed that much.
Off from here to recap the week, and recall as much as possible.
Best to you
Billie

Thank you Wendy. Walked 200 beautiful feet outside today, and starting to
walk inside. Will continue; the feeling was glorious! I'm going to recap
my week, and all that the thousands (millions, Michelle?) of plasma donors
that went into my treatment did for me; much more than those steps. It was
truly a wonderful week of seeing my nerves and muscles begin to behave
together as they should a little. The nursing staff got a real enjoyment
out of it, too, as they had never heard of the disease or treatment (IvIg),
so never seen a rejuvenation as we experienced Monday through Friday. It
was a superb hospital experience, and I've had plenty. We partied without
food! |

around to my hospital experience yet. Hope to in just minutes as I go over
all the posts. Have jumped ahead to getting my walker today, and today's
200 feet.
Might make that 500 mile trip before long.

:
: ps did you receive the photos I sent of Julie?
:
: Thank you for yet another reason to smile on this fabulous day.
Laura, isn't it wonderful for the inspirations to keep coming in life? This
one *was* a bit expensive; no one wanted to touch it, Medicare nor the
hospital. Think I'll walk into that administrator's office, and tell him
next time not to be so hesitant about giving me a bed (you all do not know
about that I do not believe for the treatment. Look me in the eye, and
tell me it is not worth it?
Laura, I honestly do not remember the pix of Julie I've received. Has it
been one batch? If so, then yes, I have, and have enjoyed that little
beauty. Ashley and I sat here and oohed and aahed over her, and picked her
to pieces; all her little beauty points. *s* You know them for sure.
Would love to see grandmother in one of them, though. ;-)
SMILE........ I walked another 200 feet today! Jim measured the blocks in
front of the house so we can tell exactly how far I walk. Knowing the size
of the blocks, I can determine what to walk if it is not so good an MG day,
and want to walk less, or a good one and want to walk MORE! LOL
Thanks for your beautiful comments.
