Januvia?

Is anyone using Januvia and if so what do you think of it?

Been on it a couple of weeks in addition to Metformin, and so far, no bad side effects or anything like that. My morning fasting BG is higher than it was when I was on the Actos and Met, but I am giving it some time to see what happens. I like it so far. I had too many side effects from the Actos and increased Metformin, so my doctor lowered the Met dose and added Januvia.

What were the side effects of Actos? I have been on it for a little
over a week -
headaches and a little nauseous......

Bad headaches the first couple of weeks, but the real problem was the weight
gain/fluid retention (10 pounds). The Actos did help get my BG down...I even
had some low's on it, but I just couldn't tolerate the weight gain/fluid
problems. It was a couple of months before the weight/fluid problem, and I
was taking Actos 30mg plus the Metformin 500mg a day. I had terrible
diarrhea and nausea when I was on the 1000mg of Metformin, but since doctor
lowered it, it is tolerable for the most part.

I had very few side effects for several years, then I began to get puffy
feet and legs. Even still it controlled my blood glucose pretty well.

Are you drinking enough water? Not that it has anything to do with the
Actos, but I get headachey when I don't drink enough water.

Yes. I got bad diarrhea from the metformin too, even the 500 mg. The Actos
was good for a couple of years, but last winter the fluid retention got very
bad for me too. Doc switched me to Byetta, which I LOVE!

Nope. It was just released in October 2006. Years to run on patent
yet.
