Thanks for the link... Sorry I did not see your post sooner...
I think part of what is going on is that people who have claims and "cases
in controversy" want the very best available information that is available,
for the purpose of strengthening their cases, whether they be plaintiffs or
defendants. Our legal system is built upon the idea that trials and
litigation are supposed to be a truth seeking process, wherever that truth
may lie.... Of course, humans being what humans are, all too often it
becomes a contest favoring the ones with the most resources, and the
strength of some people's ideals and convictions is often relative to "who's
ox is being gored"....
