Select a posting, right click on it, and select Filters/Add Kill
Filter. At the dialog box, you will already have the poster's name in
the text input area, but you can change it to kill by subject or other
criteria. You can also set 'timeouts' so that if a poster hasn't
activated your kill filter for a specified number of days, the filter
will be removed. |

Google Groups doesn't have kill files as an option. To be able to kill file
you have to use a news server & news reader.

I mark read anything crossposted to s.m.c. before I read
here. Works great. Before I did that, killfiling any author
with md/phd worked pretty well.

Firefox is a browser; you're probably using something like Google
Groups as the actual application that's talking to a news server. GG
doesn't have a kill file, AFAIK. Unless you're actually using
SeaMonkey? - that's the close cousin of Firefox which includes a
newsreader, and does have a very good (but complicated) kill file
facility.
Which one?

Neiner, neiner, ... it was someone named Woody, though, not Witchy Way!
Although I agree Witchy Way is of the female persuasion.

Say what? He's posting through google groups, not through a real
newsreader.

Right, and Firefox is a web browser which contains no news reader as a part
of it. Plus, the full headers of the OP's post clearly showed use of Google
Groups.

Firefox is not a newsreader. Look at his headers. He's posting through
google groups.

Damn! I know that, since I use it. For some reason, I read "Firefox"
and thought "Agent", which is what I use, and what I used to confirm
the directions I gave. Put it down to a senior moment or brain fart. |

Kewl Dude! <G> Go easy on yourself. We all post this when we meant that on
occasion. Usenet is a fast medium, which is why its collaborative nature is
a good thing. Meanwhile they are very good directions for filtering if
someone is using Agent, the best newsreader!
