Default Look after yourselves..

Met a nice chap on Sunday at the Kite Club AGM.. He won one of my
kites in the raffle, was very pleased... Hadn't known about me before
this, so came to see me on Tuesday to talk about ordering another
kite. He was not looking well, looked very tired and said he was
newly diagnosed DM, just had major heart attack and triple bypass, dx
on the operating table. He stood around chewing (sugared gum!) and
was pretty aphasic.. A1c of around 12 or 13, which he had not been
told anything about, just the number. No medication, no advice, no
other help at all. We had an interesting chat about diet and exercise,
which was all new to him.. On Thursday morning he was flying a kite
with a friend of mine, who looked round at one point to find his new
friend flat on his nose in the mud and stone dead... Another heart
attack.

So, in the interests of not giving my friend anything else to worry
about, PLEASE look after yourselves, and try to live as long as
possible.. He was 54 or 55, leaves a nice widow and a bag of new
kites...

I guess his doctors let him down, and gave him bum advice, or no
advice at all.... How's that for listening to one's doctor?

Wow. I hear ya. Meanwhile, do you have a pic up anywhere, or pics, of any of
your kites?

I've been to a wonderful annual kite festival on the southern Outer Banks
(of the USA North Carolina coast) before & kites today are totally amazing
to me.
