| | | Looking for the specific CPAP mask in this photo
I wore a CPAP mask for a while but had problems with it. The upper
side pressed hard against my nose, creating an injury. Plus, frankly,
I didn't enjoy much its Anibal Lecter look and feel.
This one, however, looks great: http://patriot.net/~ramon/misc/CPAP-Mask.gif
Has anyone seen it? Where can I get one?
TIA,

Wow! I had no idea there were so many models of CPAPs.
Thanks!

As long as we are on the topic...
It looks like the masks and the pumps (motor? respirator?) are sold
separately and hence are interoperable. True?
Do I need a prescription to purchase them?

I think you need a prescription only to PAY for them. Have you seen
the prices? |

You'd need to check. My wife has the sleep apnea and we've purchased all
of her equipment from the local drug/medical supply store. |

| | | Re: Looking for the specific CPAP mask in this photo I haven't seen that mask in particular, but when I recently started
having problems with pressure on the bridge of my nose from my mask, I
switched to Respironics OptiLife, which doesn't go anywhere near the
bridge. Basically, the only part that touches your nose is what they
call "nasla pillows" which sit against your nostrils. the mask came
with 4 different size pillows (petite, small, medium, and large) based
on the shape of your nostrils.
You can get a good look at its features on their website, http://optilife.respironics.com/Features.asp.
I also saw some good pictures at www.apneasupport.org/about8073.html.

Yes you need a prescripton. You also need a sleep study to determine
if you have sleep
apnia or something else. Then during the study a determination of what
type machine
you need cpat, bipap ect. Then the machine has to be set for the
pressure YOU need.
I have 3 friends who use a cpat and we all use different pressure
settings. Also during
the study you will probably try on different mask. I couldn't use a
mask like in that photo
I had to have a full face mask it's a pain but I feel so much better
after starting my cpat. |

correctly in the CPAP machine
