If it's a lot like Stevia then I wouldn't touch it. |

Why? "A lot like" could mean anything. Apparently it's a
fruit, not a leaf.
I don't promote or decry it, but it will be interesting to
see whether it becomes accepted in Western countries as a
sweetener. They haven't applied to our TGA, you'd have to
check your own FDA. http://www.drugs.com/npp/luo-han-guo.html

I ordered some off the net under the name Slimsweet. I like it, but it
doesn't seem to have the sweetening power that other sweeteners do, at
least it seems that way to me. It does have of a bit of a brown sugar
taste before added to foods. I think I will stick to aspartame in the
future though. JMO

Proctor and Gamble actually has a patent to sell a derivative as an
artificial sweetener. In consumer tests no one liked it, so they never
went to market with it,
No one liked the natural taste, so that is why they came up with a
version which didn't taste as bat - BUT, it seems to have tasted bad enough.
I can find no warnings on it, and they claim to be GRAS - I also can't
verify that, but, unlike Stevia, there are no actions against it or
warnings
BEWARE, if it is GRAS, it should be sold as a food, complete with
nutrition label. If it is being sold as a "supplement" there is n
assurance as to what is really in the package . |

magic fruit.
It works ..but too well..it does somthing to the taste buds to make
EVERYTHING you eat for the next half hour register as sweet to the brain.
So thats great if your drinking black coffee..but horrible if your eating a
expensive steak or other savory foods..lol.

I TRIED SWEET & SLENDER AND REALLY LIKED IT. IT'S MADE FROM ALL-
NATURAL LUO HAN FRUIT EXTRACT AND FRUCTOSE. IT HAS ZERO CALORIES
PERSERVING, LOW GLYCEMIC (20 PER SERVING), TASTES LIKE SUGAR, YOU CAN
USE IT FOR COOKING AND BAKING, 1 PACKET = 2 TSP OF SUGAR.
