Default Metformin odd side effect question

I realize metformin is a wonderful drug but I have a verry unusual
    reaction to it. The
two times I have tried it it has caused me to GAIN weight. Most of the
    articles I have
read on it never indicated this happen. I did however see one article
    just saying that
it almost never hapened. In my case after losing weight slowley for
    about 3 months
I started metformin. After being on it for about 2 weeks my slow
    weight loss stopped
and then during the next 2 weeks I gained a few pounds. The only drugs
    I take are
Diovan for high blood pressure and Byetta for my diabetes. My last A1C
    was 5.8 .
I have made no changes to my diet and exercise but gained a little
    weight. I know
it's not suposed to do this but in me it did. Any ideas why this could
    have hapened?

In another thread you said you've lost 25 lbs in 3 months. That is NOT a
slow wieght loss. Weight loss tends to slow down over time just because
there is less of you for your body to haul around. You may just have
gotten to a plateau. Or maybe you are retaining water. It is hard to say.
Certainly, I've never read that metformin is known to cause weight gain.
    Quite the reverse.

No, but everyone is an individual remember. We are all different. I
have gastroparesis. I'm supposed to lose weight. But I started to
gain weight when I first got that disease. Eating roughly the same.
And the worse my gastroparesis gets, the more I tend to gain weight.

If you're eating a lot of carbs, metformin will make your insulin more
effective at storing the extra glucose that produces by stuffing your
fat cells with them. At least, that's what an endo told me.

If you're insulin resistant, cutting carbs and using metformin will
usually produce weight loss as long as you're not overeating in general.

I have it too and I gain weight. Or at least can not lose.
