Americans killed in the occupation of Iraq as of June 10, 2007 is 3,511.
United Kingdom = 150 Other = 127.
How many more Americans must die to satisfy Bush's ego?
Let us all pray for Bush - God knows he needs it!
As of June 11, 2007 it has been 1503 days since Bush
while standing in front of the banner which was sent
to the ship by the White House saying MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
declared,"In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our
allies have prevailed." IOW MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Isn't Bush's "surge" of troops working well?
Pay attention to the frequency of American deaths since it began.

One of my grandfathers was called Willie all his life. But then, I

Hi Frank,
I would not say more, necessarily... My brother and I, along with some
of the cousins, did see the legendary Yogi (Yaga? ) play in 1962....
It was a fabulous time... the Orioles vs. the Yankees, in Baltimore.
As I recall, in my very dimwited state of mind at the moment, the
Orioles had Brooks Robinson, Johnny Bench (a rookie), and Jim
Gentile... the Yankees had Roger Maris, Mickey Mantel, Whitey Ford, et
al... sort of an uneven match. Anyway the Yankees were 4 1/2 games
ahead that afternoon, and they did not lose ground. Casey Stengall was
manager...
Looking back upon it, I wish I could re-live that wonderful day in
history!

Although I was born in Madison, Wisconsin, I grew up in Starkville,
MS, where my father was a professor at Mississippi State.
It was an absolutely fabulous place to grow up on the whole in the 50s
and 60s.... My brother, sisters, and I had many opportunities that
kids not growing up in a college town do not seem to get.... Plus, we
were always a travelling sort of family.
Where did you live down there? I am sure I have probably been there.

Well, I was born in Laurel (Jones, free County) and lived in Gulfport,
Picayune, Petal, Hattiesburg, Columbus & Tupelo. I still have family in and
around Picayune, in West Point, in and around Jackson & Yazoo City. And, I
am a proud W girl. So, yes, I am quite familiar with Starkville and with
'State'.

You were practically a neighbor... I would not be surprised if we know
some of the same people ;-) One of my grandmothers was from Moss Point
( her family had a shipyard that has now become part of Ingalls
Shipbuilding). The other grandmother grew up in Columbus (hers was the
father who was French, and she knew Tennessee Williams as a young
girl). Both went to the W.... and yes, I am quite familiar with the
"W".
I still have lots of family in Starkville, Jackson ,Mobile,New
Orleans, Lafayette, and all over that part of the country,
generally.....
Nice to "meet you", so to speak! :-)

Thanks, Cheri... I am much better thanks, although not still
completely over it... Not coughing nearly as much, though, which is a
good thing, I think....
I still have fits of coughing sometimes, and today for a while I felt

Can't remember, too long ago. I just remember being
impressed; I vaguely recall a shop with a "G"; Gaylords?
Now, of course, some of the biggest malls in the world are
down here.
Another memory of the area was the Vapors nightclub/bar,
where some good acts appeared. One night Wayne Newton,
another a group with falsetto voices, the Newbeats with "I
like Bread and Butter". And also 26 miles of strip clubs,
most of which were off limits to the USAF or Army - but not
to us (hey, I was 20:-)
We moved off the base and stayed at the Gulf Towers
Apartments on Biloxi Beach. It was still there in '03 when I
returned, but may have gone since in Katrina.
