| | | More about Nancy Leitner, Drama Queen, Control Freak, Usenet Censor and genraly whiner She's gonna tell you now that I made "serious" death threats against
her and a whole group of moderators a few years back, and that she's
in fear for her life.
I told this to the group of people involved, and they were stunned. No
one remembers any of this...cause it didn't happen.
She's going to say I went off my meds and became violent, and some
crazy story about a bar fight. I did go off my meds, because I had a
serious drug problem that spiraled out of control, and I paid the
consequences. But now I've been clean 3 years and thinking clearer
than ever before.
What happened was that we started a moderated newsgroup for the
bipolar community, and it was supposed to be a place where people
could come to talk about anything that was going on in there lives, so
long as they weren't abusive to other posters. And Nancy was trusted
to be the head moderator. The problem was that she betrayed the entire
group and imposed an absolute dictatorship. No one could ever know if
their posts would be approved...a lot depended on her mood, and you've
seen how erratic that is here. At first there was a team of about 12
people involved in the moderation process...but eventually she tried
to "fire" everyone who didn't agree with her. That's the fatal mistake
with Nancy...disagreeing with her. For years the other moderators
begged her to leave and let them try to save the group...but she
refused. Oh, she would threaten to leave when she was pissed
off...drama queen...but she never would.
So everybody left, and all the moderators resigned. She destroyed the
group, but guess what? She found another group where no one knows her,
and now whines there about how everyone ganged up on her and destroyed
the group!!! NOTHING is ever her fault!
And the irony is...although Nancy is the exact opposite of everything
a good moderator should be, she managed to get herself appointed to
the moderation team that discusses how to be a good moderator!!!
Nancy, you have lied about and slandered me and everyone who was
involved in alt.support.depression.manic.moderated. We tried to give
you are face saving way out, but you insisted on destroying the group.
Now you are being exposed...you have gotten away with your bullshit
for too long.
And no one...absolutely no one who has known Nancy through the years
and was involved in that project will come forward in her
defense...because she betrayed everyone who put their trust in her.
Go smoke your bong, Nancy, it's the only friend you have left. But
don't post anything else until you're sober...you make little enough
sense when you're not high.
Your bill has come due. |

If you say so. Now, unless you have diabetes and need some
support - why don't you piss off and find or found an
appropriate group for your own afflictions.
Time for me to disappear for tonight. The truly malicious

have this idea that if they bring up a person's history from other groups
that everyone will ooh, aah and ostracise the person in question - Nancy in
this case. I do the opposite when a nutter like you comes in carrying on
like a 9 year old. I couldn't care if Nancy had 6 heads and was in a
perpetual manic episode. She has diabetes, that's all I care about. Now run
along and play with the trains.

No, one place I haven't been. The only islands I've been to
in our vicinity are Norfolk, Fiji, NZ North Island,
Cocos/Keeling, Christmas island (the Indian Ocean one) and
Java.
If I understand what's happening to it with global warming,
Vanuatu may not be there soon. I'll have to check, maybe
that's Tuvalu - or both.
Currently planning the next one - ancient sites. Not many of
those on the islands (except Easter Is:-)

Dang, I was thinking of taking a trip there this winter.
I heard Australia will lose it's crops entirely due to the warming if it
comes as predicted.
Maybe time to starting buying beach front property in Greenland.

Apparently there are many on this group who feel she is a diabetes
wanna be.
But an old usenet junkie like me has no illusions that she will be
ostracized, that's silly. She will be back soon, and try to handle
this in the proper usenet fashion...a little joke at my expense, and a
lot of pretense that none of this bothered her in the least. She will
be a minor celebrity here for a while...many of you will rally around
her thusly:
{{{Nancy}}} I'm so sorry you have this to deal with.
But this doesn't bother me, and matters little to her...just gives her
the chance to gracefully thank you for your concern and play the ever
suffering victim some more. You are the "little people" she often
talks about, just the ones she will be able to use one day. And if any
of you were completely convinced by what I wrote, without any evidence
to support it...you are idiots.
No, it's the ones of you who have been around a while and know that
where there's smoke, there's fire, that I'm concerned with. The ones
who already felt there was something about Nancy that just wasn't
quite right and who file this little tidbit away with all the other
things that make them wonder about her. The ones who aren't easily
impressed, but who she desperately wants to impress. Those are who my
diatribe was for.
And of course for Nancy, who knows but can't admit even to herself
that she brought this upon her own head.
I trusted her once, because she was "one of us" in the bipolar group,
and because I didn't care what happened outside that group...just like
you, Ozgirl. And she betrayed that trust, and the trust of a dozen
other caring people who wanted to help the bipolar community...and she
destroyed much of that community.
Thank you to everyone who replied in this thread, your co-operation
has been essential to my aims.

Personal attacks are a NEGATIVE ENDEAVOR. We have no need to
create disruptions unless we are picked on.
Most of us have tried moderated groups. They seem to
faii. I prefer the diversity here even if I disagree
with the poster. I just skip some posts. I do not come here
to inflate my ego. Diabetes may become a living hell.

Have you not been reading? Whatever Nancy's situation - we
don't need jerks like you. Piss off.

If your postings and Nancy's to asd are ranked up side by side it's
you that looks more like the unbalanced drama queen, chasing someone
into a new newsgroup to shriek at huge unsubstantiated length about
what a monster has strayed into our midst. We're not fools.
I quote your remark above because it's a classic gem of paranoid
trollery.

Well if she's a manic depressive who might have diabetes she certainly
does. But you're not, so bugger off.

Well not even then. We can choose to walk away, but in this case I
chose not to walk away from what she wrote about me and others. And
she wrote it in a moderated group where I could not reply, so I had to
bring it to her.

It was that diversity I sought to preserve in asdmm. The only
intention was to block the out right insanity and unrelenting flame
wars that made asdm unreadable at the time. But Nancy wanted to
control what people could post to such a degree that everyone just
gave up. Her favorites could post whatever they wanted, other people
couldn't post anything at all. She made the rules up as she went.
Under those circumstances a moderated group is doomed, but she blames
it all on other people.
Skipping posts and using a kill filter are the smart way to go, but
just look at this thread where half a dozen people can't control
themselves enough not to attack me, as if their attacks could actually
accomplish anything. Now imagine half a dozen more people seriously
bent on destroying the group, with that first half dozen only too
happy to help destroy it with their zeal to defend it, and you see why
the idea of moderation becomes attractive.
Bipolar, BTW, is most often compared to diabetes when someone is
trying to make the point that it isn't "just in our heads". Both
chronic and incurable, and both progressive without treatment.

Ah but you didn't bring it to HER. You brought it to US! And we don't want

We're attacking you because you brought crap from another NG over here and
we don't tolerate THAT! We're here because we have a medical condition. We
don't need the added stress of this kind of stuff.

So... Go back to your bipolar NG then. BTW, there are several diabetics
here who are bipolar. They behave themselves and don't start flame wards.

I brought it to where she has been posting frequently, and recently.
You are only as involved as you want to be. And please get over the
notion that you can "not tolerate" this. Your only sensible/practical
option is to ignore me...what else were you thinking when you wrote
"won't tolerate"?

Starting a flame war is an art and a science that requires stealth and
deception to be done properly by an outsider, or the simply inability
to not post intemperately when it starts up spontaneously between
regulars.

Again, the word "tolerate" should not come into play. What does
attacking me accomplish, except for giving you some sort of
satisfaction over committing a meaningless act? Do you think it
actually bothers me in any way?

Well, I'll say again: Nancy destroyed the bipolar groups. There is no
longer much of a bipolar community on usenet, and it is primarily her
fault, but she is posting elsewhere that it is everyone's fault but
her own.
