how you live now may determine how and when you will die.
so basically live like you want to live a long time or live like you dont
want to live a long time.

It's not how you play the game
It's if you win or lose you can choose
Don't confuse win or lose, it's up to you

It's the living before that end arrives that concerns me.
Everything has a price and there are no guarantees. Whether
it's discipline now to hope for better health in the long
term, or careless indulgence now with possible pain and
misery before that end arrives, each of us has to determine
which price we prefer to pay.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

The lifestyle changes I have made since being diagnosed
T2 have resulted in me being healthier than ever, even
when I was running 50 to 60 miles a week. And to top
it off, I AM "eating what I want and doing as I like."
The unhealthy stuff I no longer even want.

Maybe I'm just lucky :-)

cheers

Hi Tom,

Speaking as someone who has literally "died" and come back... I would
agree with you. Just going by my own experience, I would say that we
are all responsible for how we choose to live our lives....

"Winners" will be 'losers", and vice versa... and still things just
are... completely without reference to any religiousity. We, alone,
have to choose what is right in our own lives, and what is
illusion....

Very true however.
The Moody Blues put it slightly better

'Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white,
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion?

I think your mood needs a good sanding with 120 grit sandsponges. You
will feel better then.

I saw my mom deteriorate from the time she was 40 until her death at
62...despite being a diabetic, she drank regular pepsi everyday, ate A
LOT of sweets, and A LOT of carbs. Occasionally she would try, but
then she'd chuck it all and say "what the heck! who cares!"

When she had a massive brain-stem stroke, I had to see her on life
support (not pretty) -- sit by her bed begging her to wake
up...watching her body spasm...and then ultimately, I had to say "ok"
to the doctor about removing her from life support, so in a sense, I
feel like I killed her.

I can't help but think that had she taken care of herself, she could
be here to help me through this new diagnosis, and she would be a
happy, healthy person in her early 60's with a decent life still ahead
fo her.

I VOW to do what I can to not put my son in the same position that I
had to be in...

Hopefully, you'll choose to live the best life you can for yourself
and your own happiness, and for the peace of others who love you.

i held my moms hand when i was 13 years old as she died ,
from cancer , something she really couldn't do much about ,
she was 38 at the time of her death and it made me realize ,
there's nothing much you can do when its your turn ,
all the vowing and eating right won't mean shit

Diabetes is not cancer and most people dealing with cancer, my birth
mother and my foster included who died from cancer, weren't self
defeatist career victims like the percent troll.

Diabetes is not a death sentence, and cancer can be beaten a great
deal of the time. Not everyone is willing to quit before they have
started to fight.
