New symptoms!

    Default New symptoms!

This is getting super frustrating. Last week I had numbers near 500,
followed by a stomach thing. That got better. My numbers dropped to
normal. But now my stomach is messed up again and I am having normal to
hypo numbers. Diet hasn't changed a bit except that for a few days when my
stomach was very bad, I ate nothing but white rice.

Right now I just feel super bloated and gassy. There is no actual gas
except that occasionally I do burp. My stomach is so pushed out I look like
a full term pregnancy with triplets and my belly button is an outie.
Stomach is hard to the touch. Now this may be the gastroparesis. I don't
know. Yesterday I kept feeling like I would either throw up or have the big
    D. Neither thing happened. There is sort of a gnawing/burning sensation
but not in the area where it would be if it were an ulcer. At least I don't
think so. Seems lower down. I am thinking maybe it is gastritis? Angela
had that this past year and the symptoms seem similar.

I just don't understand what is causing the low numbers. And it's not a
good thing because Angela has dress rehearsal for the next two days. That
will mean eating early in the day and a much delayed dinner. No food is
allowed in the auditorium so I will have to sneak some things in my purse
and have to find a quick place to eat them.

Something is really wacked. I didn't eat my usual breakfast this morning.
I ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch thinking it would be easier to digest. That put
me at 216 before dinner even though I awoke to 110. 2 hours after dinner?
    77. Gah.

Wheat Whole, Sugar, Rice Flour, Canola Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Fructose,
Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Cinnamon, will cause
weakened cells to commit apoptosis], Soy Lecithin, Trisodium
Phosphate, Caramel Color, Annatto Extract Color, Zinc, Iron, Vitamin
    C, Niacinimide, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B1, Vitamin A, Flavors
Natural, Folic Acid (Vitamin aB), Milk Non-Fat, Vitamin B12, BHT To
    Preserve Freshness, Vitamin D.

I wonder if you can replicate the effect with a mixture of sugar,
canola oil, cinnamon, iron supplement and skim milk powder?

Why would I do that? I can't have milk!

I put it in a bowl and ate it with a spoon. No milk. No milk substitute.
I'm not stupid. If I had consumed milk I would have listed it.

Sorry, Julie. I just presumed that having what is generally considered
a breakfast cereal means eating it with milk. I should have known
    better, huh?

I don't know why you would presume that. I have never eaten my cereal with
    milk.

The cereal already has a small amount of NON-FAT MILK.

I cant have milk (or dairy products) either. But, undoubtably there
always is _some_ butter in a cookie, I dont get upset by that.
The amount of it counts with me (dont know about others).
Yet yoghurt is okay with me. This afternoon was warm, I ate a big
icecream (without cream), yoghurt-based. Very yummy, and my bg's didnt
    act weird neither. :-)

Well, I "presumed" that because I learned a very long time ago to not
    "assume" anything.

I can't imagine why I would think you'd eat a breakfast cereal with
milk, but I believe there is some precedence for that. However, perhaps
I missed you mentioning that is one of your posts. If you have
mentioned it could you please provide a cite?

    I have a dairy intolerance. I know I have mentioned that before. I don't
really like most cereal. And I really *hate* soggy cereal. So I would
never put any kind of liquid on it. I was forced to use cream on cereal at
a school camp. I wanted to throw it right back up. And no, we didn't know
of the intolerance then but my parents should have known because they said I
threw up every kind of milk they gave me as a baby.

My parents are also among the many who either do not have or do not deal
with a food allergy or intolerance. When they think of a dairy problem they
just assume milk. They do not think of other things like cheese or that
there may be dairy in a prepared item.

Angela was just on an antibiotic that can not be taken with dairy or
calcium. They thought I was being overly picky when I asked about the
buckwheat pancakes that she wanted. They had dairy in them. Most people
probably also don't know that there is dairy in most store bought bread.

They probably also don't know that any of the other cereals that are like
Cinnamon Toast Crunch have dairy in them. So I can not eat the imposters.

The cereal already has a small amount of NON-FAT MILK.

Let me check my box. Nope. You are wrong!

Whole Grain Wheat, Sugar, Rice Flour, Canola and/or Rice Bran Oil, Fructose,
Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Salt, Cinnamon, Soy Lecithin, Trisodium Phosphate,
Color Added, BHT Added to Preserve Freshness.

Added vitamins and minerals: I won't bother to list.

    CONTAINS: WHEAT AND SOY INGREDIENTS

I don't know where you got that list from but it's not correct. I would
never knowingly eat something with dairy in it.

I don't think I have actually ever tried yogurt. Just the look and the
smell of it makes me want to vomit. I have never liked ice cream or most
frozen treats. My parents used to make me eat ice cream because they liked
it. I always got sick after I hate it. Sometimes very sick. I would
    double over in pain.

Once at a zoo in Washington DC, it was very hot and I got a frozen lemonade.
I wasn't diabetic then, or if I was I didn't know it. I did enjoy that.
And when we lived on Staten Island, I would make sugar free Sno Cones for
the kids. I did like those once in a while. Mostly I made the ice blocks
from sugar free lemonade, shaved them, then put more sugar free lemonade
over that so it was more like a slushy. I didn't really care too much for
    the syrups over the ice.

Ok. Are you sensitive to foods (ie cinnamon) with strong polyphenols?
Try adding cinnamon to an otherwise safe meal and check for bloating.

Cinnamon raises my BG if I take it in capsules. The amount in a serving of
    cereal is fine.

Had that too when young, ony wanted water-ices. But then there were no
yogurt-ices (I'll leave the cream out, its confusing) and now there
    are.
BTW: I dont eat yogurt "by its own", I dont like the taste of it.
But I _do_ use it as replacement for the milky or creamy part in
sauces, I put enough spices in it to _not_ taste it :-)
The ice(cream) I had yesterday had an overwhelming orange taste to it,
even a bit on the soury side; this icecreamparlour now exists for 50
yeara, boasts about using real fruit in its ice(creams), which I really
do taste. Having tried anough other icecreamparlours I can surely taste
    the difference.

Ah, you see: "frozen lemonade", its the same as the water-ice I
    mentioned before :-)

No, I think most people generally presume that cold cereal involves
milk. "Cereal and milk" means to me a bowl of cereal with milk AND a
glass of milk. That with a small glass of orange juice is a great
breakfast! IMHO. In my world. YMMV.

Plain yoghurt doesn't taste good to me either, I prefer the fruit yoghurts,
but they have too much sugar ...

Sometimes I eat a dessert of 1 dl (half a cup) yoghurt, mixed with a few
nuts - hazel, walnuts, almonds - and sweetened with Stevia.
I was given a box of Stevia powder, it was mixed with inulin and not cut
with maltodextrin, so only a very small amount is enough. For some reason
Stevia powder tasted terrible as a tea sweetener, but in yoghurt it's just
    fine!

Thats funny now! Husband just bought a plant-in-pot, called Stevia.
Wonder if can put it (the leaves?) to use in food , its now sitting in
    the windowsill..

And reading about you eating that jellied bean/seed/whatever stuff makes

Chia seed and it is very common in Mexico where they drink Chia Fresca. If

When I used proton pump inhibitors, they caused motility issues.
When I stopped them and started the digestive supplement I got
better. Understand, I not saying this has application your case
as you are beyond my pay grade. Indeed we've discussed this before.

Could it be viral? I suspect healed old ulcers can ache or be
vulnerable to further problems with only slight insults.
    I speaking about my stomach.

I do think it is viral because many others around me have the same symptoms.
There could also be something going on. But I am thinking it's not likely
an ulcer because I do take Carafate with each meal, or I'm supposed to. I
have been pretty bad at taking it with breakfast and if we are out and we
eat out I can't always take it. It's a pain because you have to take it an
hour before eating. You can't eat so much as a bite after taking it or it
    will form a bezoar.

I feel a lot better today. I was rather afraid to eat the Taco Bell bean
burritos because the last time I did this I was in so much pain that I had
to go to bed. Bed only lessened the pain slightly.

Tonight I seemed fine after eating until I went to the kitchen to make our
lunch for tomorrow. Yes, I will be eating lunch. Just a small sandwich and
some carrots. Because again, we won't get dinner until late.

I turned to put the mustard away in the fridge and got a pain in my stomach
that doubled me over. And then again about a minute ago I got another one.
But other than that, I feel pretty good. Just very sleepy but I know I
didn't get enough sleep and I know I won't tomorrow.

We can sleep in on Sunday and for sure we will!

AFAIK yes, you can. I think it was used like that for quite some time in
the EU area until the powers that be finally approved the sweetener product
    :-)

I remember seeing a plant pot (pardon the unintended pun) at the botanical
garden, labelled Cannabis indica. There was no plant there ...

Me too! A little bit much fat, but heh, *something* has to kill us, so
it might as well taste good.

Also nice is what we call "kwark" - in French "fromage blanc" - and
according to my translator "curd cheese" in English.

In Polish my mother called it "twarog". I recall from my youth she made it
by putting out jars of milk on the widow sill. Don't ask me how that worked.
All I know is that it tasted nice.

kwark, fromage blanc, cottage cheese, bavarois ..... I thought they were
invented by the Dutch Health Ministry. Their new austerity measures involve
more of those for the old people in nursing homes. They die like rats from
the salmonella infection. Then they can pay more to the managers of the
    nursing homes. win-win

Have you tried Kefir for digestion problems? It's loaded with good bacteria!
    Works for me against bloating!

No because it's a dairy problem and dairy makes me sick to my stomach!

You mean the Lectos in milk? All dairy products are pasteurized, means all the bacteria killed off, makes difficult to digest.
Kefir has all the good bacteria put back, helping digestions and the immune system.
    Made a difference to me.
    Try it!

No. And you mean lactose. It is the casein in all dairy products. I don't
need to try it. Sends me right to the bathroom.
