| | | OT-Angry!! I am so mad... I could strangle somebody. Not long ago my bank, Amsouth,
changed to Regions Bank. They cancelled my Amsouth Visa and sent me a
Regions Visa to replace it. During the switch, my primary domain name,
Gulfcomp . com came up for automatic renewal... as if has every year for the
last 9 years. The payment method registered with my registrar was the
Amsouth Visa which was cancelled. My domain was considered cancelled and
somebody grabbed it the very same day. My fault for not paying attention but
maddening no less. Somebody kill me.

Dear John, (this is not how this sounds) Hey. Not that I'm advocating
drinking, mind you...But. Well, you know. Stress is the mind killer.
And the bad effects of it are well documented. So as a person who has
person who has a lot of stress at times, I can say without reservation
that God did create the fruit of the vine for some reason. Anyway,
bummer about your stuff. My day sucked, so here I am two tequilas and
2 beers to the wind and I feel GREAT! Actually, a little slower and
definitely not about to drive anywhere. I'm just saying...there's a
time and a place...and for me, this is it. Actually, it would be it
anyway, as it is Saturday Night. I bother the neighbors regularly on
Saturday night. And Sunday, Monday and Tuesday...but rarely Wednesday,
Thursday or Friday. So, this ones for you, whoo--hoo! No more
strangling people for the week. It's Miller Time. Yay-er.

I forgot to renew my domain name once and someone else chose it almost
immediately, like in your case.
I sometimes used that name for some of my business, and it was a very
disappointing situation. I however, was able to get the old domain name, but
with the extension .biz instead of .com.
Maybe you could get your old domain name, but with another extension also.

It's actually more than $8.95 but GoDaddy is a good service and they
have tech support 24/7 which is key if you have any kind of problems. https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosti...ed.asp?ci=9009

You can "point" your domain name to your Geocities site - that's what I do.
Look for "redirect" in godaddy.

You do not get any space when you buy a Domain Name.
To get space you will need an account with an ISP company such as
myhosting.com.
Each hosting company has several options to choose from. Some are very
inexpensive, others can be quite expensive.
My account is the least expensive one myhosting.com has. It cost $9.95 a
month and there was an a one time setup fee of a few dollars.
I have 2048MB of space and 50MB for E-mail accounts.
On my site I have posted 48 puzzles and have used up only 2% of my space.
My website is: http://puzzlement.biz
You can check out the ISP at: http://myhosting.com.
You can also select a domain name from there.

It may be partly your fault, but I'd advise talking to a lawyer.
I am reluctant to support the insane lawsuit frenzy in the USA,
but if their actions caused significant damage to your financial
situation ...

I hear you John, CitiBank did the same thing to me, changed my card to
another card, changed my number that I had had for years and years,
and really screwed up my automatic payments. When I called to
complain, they said that they had notified me, and I had to opt out. I
told them I didn't receive notification (I really don't think I did)
but I also told them that I don't get it...why the Hell do I have to
opt out, why not opt in if I want something like that. It was a
nightmare...so kill me too.

Since the file resides on the YouTube server, and not on a private
computer, all you are doing is telling us where we may go to view the
streaming video, which does not permanently reside on our individual
computers... Thus, there may be not be a copyright violation.... It
may just be an instance of "fair use". To be sure, those issues remain
to be fleshed out in the courts and in legislation, but as it stands
now, an individual viewing streaming audio that has been "broadcast"
via the medium of Youtube is probably not violating a copyright,
anymore than someone who tells a friend about an exciting book that is
available in the library.
Of course it gets to be a potentially different matter when one
presumes to upload protected and copyrighted material on YouTube,
thereby making it available for viewing. YouTube does try to actively
discourage that by a policy that requires people to have permission to
upload protected video.... Stuff already in the public domain does not
count. So individual performers and groups can upload the classics all
day long.... as well as the studios and agents of the performers they
are trying to promote.

Not a very good registrar then, they should have at least put the domain
into a hold status and notified you. I don't like those automated
schemes for that kind of reason, I'd rather do it manually and have them
send me reminders when it's due

This kind of thing makes me so angry I can't even get into it.
