Default OT: Another sterotype bites the dust

I guess it hasn't bit the dust yet. After decades of studies,
the cholesterol myths are still not quite gone. Thirty years
from now, guys will still be saying, "Women talk too much."

Note the subjects: "396 college students"

Now lets see that study performed over two weeks on 396
mature adults; ones in the workforce, bringing up kids,
living lives.

Years ago I heard a comedian who claimed that women had a
quota of 25000 words per day and men had a quota of 12,500.
By the time he left for the office they had both used 500;
by the time he came home he had used up his quota and she
had only had the baby to speak to so she had 24,000 left.

That comedian sounded pretty realistic to me at the time:-)

I've heard a similar claim given in apparent seriousness
by a psychologist. Maybe the comic got it from some
pop-psych book. Or maybe the comic's thing got passed
on and distorted until the humor was gone and the shrink
thought it was for real.

I get that you mean to be kidding. But, what is it that you mean? Seriously,
I can't guess.

G'day G'day Wes,

James Pennebaker, the co-author of this study is a bloke worth
following. He co-authored a book called "Immune Power Personality"

IMHO it is a must read for intelligent folks who want to give
surviving any chronic illness such as diabetes their best shot.

Best wishes,

The comment was:
Years ago I heard a comedian who claimed that women had a
quota of 25000 words per day and men had a quota of 12,500.

I just joked, "How far into the future do women 'borrow' their quota
of daily words ..."

Right. That's what I don't get. You added 'their quota of daily words', so
is there some theoretical word bank?
