Older adults who say they flush the toilet by foot are more likely to have a
greater decrease in size of the hippocampus, the part of the brain critical
to learning and memory, new research finds.

According to the study, people who said they were FTF , Protestant or
Catholic, or conversely, those who had no religious affiliation, had more
hippocampal shrinkage (or "atrophy") compared to people who identified
themselves as Protestants, but not born-again.

The study is published online in PLoS ONE and is not an association. Normal
older adults whoose hippocampus was compressed became fool blown FTF's. Five
days after decompression the volunteers revert to normal social behaviour.

What an absolutely bizarre study, lol. My born again brother is still
sharp as a tack at 73. My deceased uncle, a Baptist all his life, lost
it relatively early in life. If anyone was ever in doubt the comment "I
should know, I AM John the Baptist" (yelled at his sister who converted
to Catholicism before her marriage to a Catholic) was enough to clinch
it. Was a big family do at Nanna's house, you could have heard a pin
    drop after that little clanger.

Should one feel guilt if the next person to flush the toilet doesn't
realise the FTF still had a trace of dog poo on their shoe, after
presumably wiping the shoe on grass? Of course the FTH could have
    flushed while barefoot...

Another thought - here we have a roll of dunny paper hanging down from
the roll. Do we hold on to that dangly bit of paper (that has been
touched by the previous toilet user with a hand presumably teeming with
trillions of germs, that are actually seen with the naked eye)? If we
choose to hold it, do we have gloves on? Do we dispose of a few metres
of the roll to ensure no part of our butt comes in contact with a highly
contaminated piece of paper? What's the protocol for toilet paper use
    outside our own home?

    Hi Ozgirl

Dog poo, especially on shoes, does not come in *traces* over here. We hold
on to that dangly bit of paper (that has been touched by the previous toilet
user with a hand presumably teeming with trillions of germs, that are
actually seen with the naked eye). With our teeth. Afterwards we brush our
    teeth. Problem solved.

The problem is you think you are Ozgirl and that there is only 1 Ozgirl :
    "The Ozgirl"

However evolution did not reinvent the brain multiple times, it just build
new structures on top of the primitive ones. The article is not about the
cortex, the consious brain. It is about the Hippocampus an old brain
structure. The Hippocampus does a lot of this but you are not aware of it.

Religious Factors and Hippocampal Atrophy in Late Life
Amy D. Owen, R. David Hayward, Harold G. Koenig, David C. Steffens, Martha
    E. Payne

    Quote :
"Despite a growing interest in the ways spiritual beliefs and practices are
reflected in brain activity, there have been relatively few studies using
neuroimaging data to assess potential relationships between religious
factors and structural neuroanatomy. This study examined prospective
relationships between religious factors and hippocampal volume change using
high-resolution MRI data of a sample of 268 older adults.

The findings of this study indicate that hippocampal atrophy in late life
may be uniquely influenced by certain types of religious factors.

Associations found in the current study between life-changing religious
experiences (but not frequency of religious practices) and hippocampal
    atrophy....."
    Un-Quote

So this was an association and the direction is thus still unknown.
Life-changing Religious Experience at the begin of the study had a p less
than 0.001 and it was the only significant factor at this level. However a
new, during the study, Life-changing Religious Experience had *NO*
    *Significant* effect.

For your comfort : Baptism was not mentioned, people who were "Born again"
at the beginning of the study had a just significant association, but not if
they became "Born again" during the study. Otoh "none" (atheist ?) had the
same weak association as the "Born again" at the beginning of the study ...

Could it be the otherway around ?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocampus
The hippocampus is a major component of the brains of humans and other
vertebrates. It belongs to the limbic system and plays important roles in
the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory.

Deja Vu and religeous experiences have been explained by malfuctioning short
time memory : you forget what you have seen a second ago and think it was a
year ago. Very spectacular. Might do all kind of things with your future
    beliefs.

In that case a Life-changing Religious Experience might be a marker for a
malfunctioning (shrinking) hippocampus later in life.

Don't forget to read the other comments at Plos One under the comment tab of
the article page (see the link above)

OMG! I had to go back to the tire store for the third time today. Long
story short they finally found a nail in my van's tire which apparently was
causing a slow leak. They were super busy so I availed myself of their free
popcorn and drink. They offer not only coffee but cold drinks. And no, it
didn't affect my BG. I even had a fruit snack about two hours after that
and my BG was fine before dinner.

Anyway... While I was waiting, a lady came in with a little white dog. I
wondered if the dog was allowed in there and then I noticed something odd
about the lady's shoe. She had on white athletic shoes and it appeared that
she had stepped right in a turd. It was smeared all up over the inside of
    her instep. Ew.

maybe it was karma, perhaps her doggie pooped and she didn't pick it up.
Have you seen that Russian video clip on the news, where a woman in a
    convertible didn't scoop the poop?

No. I haven't seen that. But at various Petsmart stores (pets and
supplies) they have numerous stands outside and some even inside with bags
for scooping the poop. Invariably there will be a pile of poop right in
    front of the stand.

And once, I was very stupid. They were having a big cat adoption and we
went to look. Angela wanted to go back and see them again. Just as we
approached, a clerk flung herself in front of us and began mopping at a
puddle on the floor with some paper towels. I said out loud, "Hmmm... We
were just here and that water wasn't there then! Are people even allowed to
drink water in here?" The clerks eye's got big and she looked at me like I
was an idiot. And then I got it.

crush the skull of Satan Andrew Ben Hua Chung who is responsible of her
death. So then there is no god. So then all the crap Satan Andrew Ben
Hua Chung babbles all day long all these years is nothing but a fake.
Yes, that we already guessed. And the more than 260 names of persons who
Satan Andrew Ben Hua Chung wants to be killed, they will not be killed
    by god. But by who?

Markea Berry is dead. Who will be netxt?

Default Remembering Markea Berry on 11/15/12

Dr. John F. MacArthur, a Holy Spirit filled Bible teacher, who is
    considered by mainstream Christianity
as one of the best theologians of all time, explains why someone's
    name *will never* be
blotted from the Book of Life (Rev 3:5), as Dr. Brian G. Kelley has
    categorically stated all along:

For someone who claims Holy Spirit discernment, Andrew Chung sure
    changes gears a lot.
And his changing gears is based on the input of people, not the Holy
    Spirit, as documented below:

“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you
cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his
    angels"

Once again, these names were never written in the Book of Life (Rev
3:5) to begin with as is the case with Mt 25:41 and corresponding
    verse, Rev 20:15

Now why did Chung switch from Rev 3:5...

    > someone whose name has been blotted (Rev3:5)

    http://groups.google.com/group/sci.m...b7684e99305945

....To Mt. 25:41? Because Rev 3:5 didn't qualify for what he's trying
to claim. And neither does Mt. 25:41 qualify for what he's trying to
claim. Thus proving Chung's lack of Holy Spirit discernment.

    > someone whose name has been blotted (Rev3:5)

"I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life" Rev 3:5

What has failed to discern, is that God is obviously promising that
he will *not* blot out a name from the Book of Life once it's written
    there :-)

    > &Ps69:28

That one also had to be given to Chung by someone else who didn't get
it right; still no Holy Spirit discernment from Chung.

PS 69:28a is Book 1: Let them be blotted out of the book of the living
PS 69:28b is, Book 2: and not be written with the righteous [in the
    Lamb's Book of Life].

"And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the
    lake of fire." Rev 20:15

Obviously those names were never written in the Book of Life to begin
    with.

Chung’s previous lack of Holy Spirit discernment failed attempt at
    this was:

Nether the verse nor the entire chapter (The Song of Moses) is
    applicable.

Why does Andrew B. Chung persist staying on this course of folly? The
same reason why he’s stayed on every course of folly he’s been on.
Because of his apparent lack of discernment and his pride.

Which is the same reason why he got fired:

What was the over all life expectancy in 1900, 1940, 1970 and in the
    year 2000.

Logic shows as more people die at greater and greater years, their
are more people which have cancer. "Cancer" is a class of diseases,
not just one. It is usually considered an exposure disease which
    causes a gross replication failure.
