Default PING Julie

You had mentioned that your fingers were sore and developing callouses from
using the lancets for BG tests. Last week, I increased the depth of my
lancet penetration and my fingers got sore and developed callouses! I
reduced the penetration to what I had previously been using. No more
problems for me. You might try reducing the depth of lancet penetration.

HTH

Take care.

I have very thick skin and if I reduce the depth, I can't get a drop of
blood at all. But thanks! The problem is I was stabbing in the same spots
each time. They became my reliable spots for getting blood quickly, but
that quit working when the skin got even thicker.

That's why it's best to change finger sides often. I'm like you, going
for the quicker blood drop, but it definitely does make the skin
thicker, so better to slow down a bit, and change test areas on the
fingers often. :-)

I rotate the four fingers on my right hand daily, using a different spot
n the finger each time. Sometime it too is RR about getting blood.
The tips are now thicker, but the thin spots on the side get bruised.

It appears that basic sobolene cream helps keep the skin thinner, or
perhaps it is just the rubbing the fingers as I rub it in.

I used to rotate and then just got lazy.

I've been using the Bayer Vaculance for alternate site testing. The
penlet creates a vacuum and is effective at drawing blood to the skin's
surface.

Eesh. That thing just creeps me out. I'd rather just do my fingers.
