I had my gallbladder removed in 1987 and did not develop diabetes until 1999
so I would say no in my case. |

diabetes in 2006.
So I would say no in my case, too. |

Why would it? My dad had his removed and although he has diabetes, he
didn't get it as soon as the gallbladder was out. |

My uncle started smoking when he was fifteen and died of lung cancer in his
fifties so there was obviously no connection there either.

Sure! It's not a good thing and the patient dies very quickly but yes,
they can remove the pancreas. )

Some people have no choice. They become a type 1 diabetic. My daughter's
partner is one with "acquired" type 1. He had to take some kind of enzyme
and insulin for many years - the pancreas isn't just used for producing
insulin. He now only takes insulin. |

There is a lady on another group I read whose pancreas was
injured during a gallbladder removal; which led to her loss
of insulin producing ability.
Incidentally, the first post I saw in theis thread was
Diana's. Did anyone see the original post?

My father-in-law had pancreatic cancer and he had his pancreas and the
top portion of his small intestine. He took insulin and did have to
take enzymes to breakdown fats, carbohydtrates, and proteins that the
exocrine pancreas normally secretes near where the gall bladder duct is
located. He lived about 10 months like that before the cancer overtook
his whole body.
