Default saw the endo today..

This is my first return visit since DX and my first since dx ac1 test.
Wont know how i did for a while tho..
But i was very pleased with the visit!

She saw my printout and asked how i was able to stay below 100 even after
meals..lol.
She was very impressed with my diet and trying to exercise despite the
lethargy i complained of to her.
I am geting a full bloodworkup to be sure i am not low on potasium or too
much lactic acid from the metformin as she susspects.

She was worried i keep my BG too low and could become immune to feeling a
low low.

My 12 hour fasting numbers was 60 so she decided i can try reducing or
quitting the metformin and even the glipi if i like my numbers.
Basically she left it up to me which i like she said i am so proactive and
compliant that she isnt worried..which was nice to hear.

I told her about how i was splitting the glipi and was impressed and told me
she would redo my script from the 10 mg to the five i was taking and can
split that before bed so im nearly drug free in contol!

:-)

She is having me try requip for the leg pain when i sleep to see if that
helps and we will work on that issue and again feels the lethargy is likely
the metformin so we will see if reducing to 500 in morning or stopping will
fix that.

Also got a scipt for water retension as somtims i get a bit puffy that she
left up to me to take when i feel the need.

She rocks and im glad she is my doc!

If your premeal BGs are less than 100, there is no longer a need for
either the metformin or the glipizide. Premeal BGs less than 100 are
normal.

Be hungry... be healthy... be blessed:

I like her, I really do. Krom. She is letting you be proactive in the
care of your diabetes. You are doing well and maybe you are on your way
to being med free and that could be wonderful.

just be careful if you go med free that you will really have to watch
with extreme care

I am happy for you.

stay with the met (it helps with weight loss and sensitizes the cells to
your own insulin)

drop the glip, that is wearing your beta cells out by causing them to
produce more
insulin

and CONGRATULATIONS

we want to see that A1c next ! :-)

Wow KROM, you are doing great!

If it were me, I'd try dropping the glip instead of the Met. Just keep that
in mind for later if the changes you make right now don't help.

What a wonderful, encouraging, inspiring report, Krom!

Good luck with the requip, and hope you find the source of that lethargy.

Hang with that doc!

I take a 2.5 mg dose of glip before bed and it allows me to sleep and wake
with stable fasting bg numbers.
I will play around with upping exercise and my meds dosage to see what works
for me.

Normally they have me fill a paper out with adress to get the results but
didnt this time..im gonna have to call them i think..i want my numbers too
good or bad!
I will give them a week.

ROFL! Well, if she's told you to use your intelligence and do
something useful with the results of testing - good on you for being
so compliant!

Woo-hoo! That is wonderful news Krom! Unfortunately, so many
diabetics are not only not proactive, but also non-compliant that I
bet you made your endo's day. :-)

Interesting mis-spelling there.

:-)

It would have described me more accurately the time they
left a swab in the wrong place.

Heh i am king of the typo!
Good thing was the phlabotomist <sp> was very skilled and i felt nothing and
she got it in one easy jab.
I have had one stick the needle into the bone and that hurt for weeks...

When they do it right no complaint and much compliance..heh
