Default Saw my diabetician today

He has a diabetes nurse-in-training! She sounds pretty level-headed and Dr.
Bonabi wouldn't have hired her if she was off-the-wall. I asked her a few
questions, like, "do you think I should be eating 60 gms of carbs at a
meal" Answer: Maybe 10 or 15, less at breakfast. See how it effects your
post prandial readings. Q: Should I be taking insulin or other meds? A:
(looking at my BG graph) What you're taking now is doing fine. Dr
interrupts, "Look at all these hypos! You've gotta eat more carbs! Break it
up into several small meals a day. Yes. You can have pasta. potatoes, even
rice and cream sauces, ice cream, cake, whatever you want. Just exercise
Portion Control and test your BG to see the effect of however much you ate
of something. Look at those spikes (one was 280)! You can't binge on carbs
like that. Keep notes." I see him again in three months, unless my lab
tests or something decide otherwise. He'll be FAXing me a copy of them in a
couple of days.

He sounds like you guys. ;-D

The lump on my neck is nothing. It's the vertebra! So I saved a trip to my
Oncologist/Cardiologist!

Next week it's my quarterly with my nephrologist/internist. See how my
kidneys and liver are holding up. ;-?

Are you sure she passed her diabetes-nurse course?

That's great news, Nick!

Thinking more good thoughts at you. It seemed to work for the lump.

She must read the NG.

Fantastic news! BTW, that lump on your face is probly just your nose,
so don't worry about that either. D

Cool Find out where she's planning on practicing, we can add her to
the list...

This bit is odd. What meds are you on? You shouldn't be getting hypos
on no meds unless you're eating too many carbs, and getting reactive
hypoglycemia... we KNOW you eat too many carbs sometimes, though!

Your kidneys would be happier if you never went over 140 again... I'm
impressed by your liver's constitution :P

Yay! Way to go! Well, presuming the vertebra is also OK:-)

Hi Nick,

Your doctor and his diabetes nurse in training sound terrific. Btw, what
does your doc consider a hypo? I didn't think you took any meds....

So glad to know your lump in nothing, nada, zilch! Woo-hoo!

Thanks, John. Even though I'm of Sicilian heritage, I've got a Roman nose.
Roamin' all over my face! Plus, I got it broken a couple of times in
fights.

As far as I know, she'll be working at Dr. Bonabi's office. I hope she
doesn't move!

I'm just taking Thai herbs. Right now, Lotus germ tea. I screwed up already
this AM. Boiled up 1/4 cup of steel-ground oats and 1 Tbs of butter in a
cup of water and added 1 Tbs of agave nectar. FBG was 99. Before bkfst BG
95. One hour PP BG 147! I've had each separately in the past, with no
spike, but not together and not for breakfast. Damn! ;-(

All of me would be happier if I never went over 140 again! Right now, my
kidleys are working at 45%. I take 4000 mg of milk thistle extract a day to
help my liver along. <hic>

Thanks, Alan. If my Uric Acid is still OK, all I'll get is his urging me to
stop drinking and smoking.

I think, below 80, gut it could be 70. I take Thai herbs for BG control,
but they don't help much when I carb binge! ;-(

Common sense seems to be catching on

A man went to see the doctor

"What seems to be the problem?"

He parted his hair to reveal a large frog sitting on top of his head.

The frog said

"Doctor, can you get this giant wart off my ass?"

>Next week it's my quarterly with my nephrologist/internist. See how my

So far so good
