1. Change hospitals next time.
2. Try not to need a next time:-)

Sound Advice. This is just for USA folks but perhaps something similar

Think about this for a second: a hospital is a place for SICK people. |

That's why I avoid any procedure like the plague. One little boy we know
regularly goes to hospital for two weeks at a time to be have IV super
antibiotic cocktail to bring the levels of some bugs down to an acceptable
level. |

I wish it did; nothing like that out here that I am aware
of.
But then, my choice is a public hospital 30km west, another
one 25km North, or a Private one 30km North unless I go a
significant distance of 100km or more. So we read the papers
and remain aware of reports of problems, if any.

With hypogammaglobulinemia I try to avoid them like the
plague, literally. The same for doctor's waiting rooms.
However, if you observed me on the rare times that I must
enter one as a visitor you could easily mistake me for
Adrian Monk without the hair. Touch as little as possible,
open doors with my elbows, wash using their disinfectant if
I happen to touch something, wait in corridors outside
waiting rooms and so on. If I know in advance I'll even
carry wipes.
Obsessive and over the top? Absolutely. But still healthy.

There was a piece on the news last night about Britain. Doctors have
been ordered to dump their ties and replace their white lab coats with a
disposable plastic apron. Seems like sound advice to me.

And avoid touching your face with your hands until you've left the
place and washed your hands. From fingers to the mucus membranes in
mouth, nose, or eyes, is a very common infection route.

After my husband was in hospital in April, I came down with staphylococcus
aurea sinus infection. When I told my doctor I had been scrupulous in
washing my hands, she said it was in the air and I probably couldn't have
avoided it. She doesn't like hospitals either.

Good point; I do of course.
Little things become automatic, like grabbing a paper towel
(where available) as you enter a public restroom to use to
touch things like the taps and door handles. Maybe it only
occurs to people in my situation that the person who last
pulled on the handle to leave that place may not have washed
their hands. Little things. But they have helped me to
survive places like this without catching anything in my
travels:

Of course. That's where they keep them.
