Last year I had severe foot pain. I thought diabetic neuropathy set in
and it turned out to be bad shoes. My doctor told me to toss the shoes
and get new balances and the pain went away. Not likely your scenario,
just thought I would tell it anyhow.

them with any foot rub helps.

I find that the shoes I can find in my size these days have little to no
arch support. I use after market foam or gel inserts with a strong arch
support. Most of my non-neuropathy pain is now gone.

If you're in the US on Medicare or with VA, as a diabetic you can get a free
foot exam and no cost inserts or special shoes annually. That may be of some
help.

I don't have any neuropathy, but I did have a case of plantar fasciitis that
lasted about a year. I started doing targeted stretches and bought New
Balance walking shoes and the problem eventually disappeared. I've always
been a Reebok kinda guy, and do still wear them, but for my long walks, it's
New Balance all the way.

Like most people I have several pairs of sneakers that I rotate...and
they're all New Balance! Whether it's running, wlaking, or cross
training their shoes always seem to be the most comfortable for
me...and they have a great range of sizes and widths. Here in the Los
Angeles area there are a couple of New Balance stores and they love to
see me coming because you can hear the cash registers "ka-ching" for
miles.

So do mine. The only style of footwear I can put on are sports/tennis
shoes with velcro attachments.
What is worse is that I cannot always reach the velcro to attach them.

That is when I get out the little basin for foot baths. It has the
facility for vibrating while my feet are in the water (I have to
watch it doesn't make too much foam, so I can't even relax and
go to sleep while I am taking my footbath!)

Occasionally, my swollen feet return to normal aspect when I
have a long stroll but my sciatica tends to interefere with that
pleasure too.

And I won't mention the other pleasures it deprives me of.
