For me, the cereal would be OK later in the day. Not
for breakfast. Same with a piece of apple.

I can eat that cereal for an afternoon snack or in the
evening. I eat Fuji apples all the time ... I pick
the smallest ones in the rack and .... again, at the
right time of the day ... it works for me.

Cheers

Tani,

In my experience, Kelloggs Protein Plus with milk, if I watch my portion
size, does not result in unreasonable spiking.

Soy milk is high in carbs.

14 g of carbs per serving? And it contains high fructose corn syrup? Might
be okay for you but not for me, especially if you're going to dump more
carbs (milk) on it.

Fixed mistake on site and added some figures.
Sorry about that.

Your right but shopping around I found Silk soy milk unsweetened and it
seems to work for me. It has 4 grams of carbs.
http://www.ambrosinionline.com/kpp.htm has the figures I took off the
carton.

Not the sort I can get - too lazy to go and look in the fridge, but I was
reading the packet with my sister yesterday, and from memory it's around 5g
per 200 ml serving. Low in fat and calories too, and tastes gorgeously
creamy. No issue at all for me at breakfast, and a satisfying, zero spike
snack if I fancy a glass later in the day.

Alpro Soya Light, for UK readers.

Nicky.

He used the unsweetened. the health food store ones I use(brand name
escapes me) has 5 grams of carb for 8 ounces. Not high in my book.

My doc told me under 160. After reading
http://www.alt-support-diabetes.org/NewlyDiagnosed.htm by Jennifer
I printed out the non-diabetic numbers and try and stay in that ball park.

Do you mean:

"Here's my opinion on what numbers to aim for, they are non-diabetic
numbers.

FBG under 110

One hour after meals under 140

Two hours after meals under 120"

????

It's the range I shoot for and try and adjust my foods to stay within that
range.
I don't have an opinion yet. Having said that I been doing this Glucose
testing
and it gives me insight in different foods as they effect my sugar levels.

If I say something wrong or am misquoting someone. I don't mean to. This is
really
very new to me and the first month I had to digest that life wasn't going to
be the
same.

Now I am searching for what will work for me and share it without causing
anyone
problems.

When I stumble across this group I lurked and picked up valuable site
addresses and tips
that really helped.

Most of all was a warm welcome and a place to ask, share information and
support.

Anywhoo I am going to keep testing and testing indivual foods and food
combos. I will be building a site i can
post some recipes that I make up as I go. You are welcome to visit. It will
be a couple of weeks before I can get
the task done cause of my work load.

Goodnight dumb_fishie99,
See you tomorrow,
T

in time ( not long in my case ) you will find those same meals actually give
you better numbers.
becoming healthier is the key.

Hello Gantlet.

I also add nuts to my cereal or should i say.. i always add a veggie fat
or nut fat to all my meals.
such as 6 almonds or a couple of walnuts, olives, avocado ect.. .
it helps slow things up a bit.
i didnt eat my oat meal for breakfast today - because i have no nuts. lol.
day 2 no smoking again

Tom
